Position Overview
PT Mitra Putra Perkasa (PT MPP) is seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior International Logistics & Export-Import Specialist to strengthen our international logistics operation supporting UDG’s global business.
Based in our Bandung office, this role will work closely with our existing Senior Logistics & Warehouse Supervisor and logistics support team and will be responsible for the reliable execution, control and continuous improvement of international shipments between manufacturing partners, warehouses and customers worldwide.
The position requires strong hands-on international logistics experience combined with excellent follow-up, analytical and organizational skills. The successful candidate must be able not only to execute shipments, but also to improve processes, control costs, manage exceptions and claims, structure team responsibilities and provide management with clear visibility of logistics performance.
This position offers significant growth potential toward a future Logistics Manager / Head of Logistics role.
Key Responsibilities
International Logistics & Shipment Management
- Coordinate and control end-to-end international shipments by FCL, LCL, air freight and courier between suppliers, warehouses and international customers.
- Coordinate manufacturing handover dates, cargo readiness, bookings, vessel schedules, ETD/ETA and final delivery requirements.
- Prepare, coordinate, review and verify complete shipping and customs documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Sea Waybills, Air Waybills and Certificates of Origin.
- Work directly with freight forwarders, shipping lines, 3PL providers, warehouses and customs-related service providers in China, Europe and other international markets.
- Select and apply appropriate Incoterms including EXW, FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP.
- Maintain proactive shipment tracking from booking through final delivery and ensure stakeholders receive accurate and timely status updates.
- Request and compare freight quotations and negotiate competitive rates, schedules and commercial conditions with logistics providers.
- Review freight, handling, insurance, customs and other logistics charges before approval.
- Maintain freight-rate comparisons and identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved service levels.
- Monitor logistics-provider performance and recommend alternative suppliers when service, pricing or reliability does not meet company requirements.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment delays, customs holds, damaged cargo, documentation discrepancies and delivery issues.
- Manage logistics and cargo claims from initial notification through investigation, negotiation, settlement and financial closure.
- Ensure no shipment issue, claim or external request remains without documented follow-up, ownership and deadline.
- Escalate material delays, costs or risks to management at an early stage rather than after deadlines have been missed.
Process, Systems & Inventory Control
- Work closely with PPIC, Production, Finance, Sales and warehouse partners to align cargo readiness, inventory availability and customer delivery requirements.
- Support reconciliation of inventory and shipment discrepancies between factories, transit locations and warehouses.
- Develop, maintain and improve logistics SOPs, checklists, digital files and operational workflows.
- Maintain accurate logistics data within ERP, inventory and shipment-tracking systems.
- Help improve integration and workflow between internal systems, external warehouses and logistics partners.
- Coordinate daily activities with logistics support staff and ensure tasks have clear owners, deadlines and follow-up.
- Delegate routine shipment administration and tracking activities effectively while retaining oversight of exceptions and priorities.
- Support the training and development of junior logistics team members.
- Help establish a more scalable logistics structure as shipment volumes and international activities continue to grow.
- Demonstrate the leadership capability required to progress toward future responsibility for the complete logistics department.
- Maintain an accurate international shipment schedule and management dashboard.
- Report weekly on shipment status, upcoming deadlines, delays, claims, freight costs and unresolved issues.
- Analyse recurring logistics problems and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop KPIs for on-time shipment, delivery reliability, claims, freight costs and logistics-provider performance.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (S1) or Diploma (D3) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on international logistics and export-import experience.
- Proven experience with international sea freight, particularly FCL shipments, is essential.
- Experience coordinating shipments from China and/or working with Chinese factories and freight forwarders is a strong advantage.
- Previous experience supervising, coordinating or mentoring logistics staff is highly desirable.
Technical & Functional Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international freight, customs documentation and Incoterms.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, B/L, AWB and C/O documentation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and structured data analysis.
- Experience with ERP, inventory or warehouse-management systems.
- Strong numerical ability and commercial awareness when comparing freight quotations and logistics costs.
Languages
- Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory because the role requires daily communication with international customers, warehouses, suppliers and logistics providers.
- Mandarin is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
