Senior Labor & Employment Attorneyis an in-house employment law expert who is entrusted with the critical task of safeguarding the company's interestsand mitigating legal risks in labor and employment matters. This role demands a skilled legal professional with a collaborative mindset, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and adept communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact within the Legal Department for labor and employment-related legal issues in the United States.
  • Liaison with outside counsel both within and outside of the United States on labor and employment matters.
  • Partner with Human Resources (HR) on all legal aspects of labor and employment matters, including investigating highly sensitive employee relations issues, counseling on day-to-day employment questions, and responding to EEOC, FLMA, NLRB and other regulatory inquiries and proceedings.
  • Represent the company in employment-related disputes, litigation, mediations, and settlements, working with outside counsel, as needed.
  • Work with HR to draft employment-related contracts, including restrictive covenant provisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and maintain compliance with all relevant laws as it relates to company handbooks, global policies and procedures.
  • Analyze casework trends to produce strategic recommendations to HR and the business to proactively address and mitigate risk.
  • Proactively monitorlabor and employment laws to provide and advise of developments that may affect the company.
  • In conjunction with the Learning & Development and HRteams, develop and teach human resources legal training, including sexual harassment, wage and hour, and FMLA.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required from an accredited law school in the United States.
  • Minimum of 5 yearsof employment law experience in the United States is required.
  • Experience in complex States (ex: California) and non-US jurisdictions, including Canada and LATAM is preferred.
  • Experience working with labor unions is preferred.
  • Experience in drafting, negotiating and enforcing restrictive covenant agreements is preferred.
  • Strict compliance with required confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to use judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate oral and written data, analyze facts, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong technology and computer skills including Microsoft 365 and ability to perform legal research.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion with regard to reporting functions.
