Job Description
- Provide high-level strategic direction for the construction contractor business unit, ensuring the alignment of projects with the company's long-term goals.
- Lead and oversee the execution of multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing expert advice on construction practices, project feasibility, and execution strategies.
- Mentor and guide project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure effective project delivery and adherence to best practices.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors. Oversee procurement processes and ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Ensure all construction projects comply with industry regulations, building codes, and safety standards. Implement robust quality control measures throughout the construction process.
- Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and provide solutions for cost-effective project execution. Ensure profitability while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate construction-related risks and challenges, from project delays to unforeseen site conditions, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Advise on and negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring that all terms are favorable and align with company goals.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- At least 20 years of experience in construction, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior advisory or leadership role within the contracting sector.
- Proven experience in managing construction projects from start to finish, with expertise in both residential and commercial real estate development.
- Strong understanding of contractor operations, construction methodologies, procurement processes, and subcontractor management.
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Strong track record of managing project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently.
- Experience in establishing or growing a construction contracting business unit or department is preferred.
