The role holder will own and lead Lazada's partnerships with key financial-institution partners, from strategy and pitching through negotiation, execution and performance review. Responsibilities include:
- Securing and optimising partnership funding, and ensuring investment translates into strong campaign redemption, customer growth and incremental business;
- Building the overall strategy for bank-partnership campaigns and special initiatives, including co-brand cards, brand-funded campaigns and new payment propositions;
- Pitching and negotiating directly with banks and other financial institutions, up to senior management level when required;
- Using data to determine target customers, offer design, investment levels and campaign effectiveness, including whether initiatives delivered incremental growth and should be repeated;
- Designing initiatives to acquire new users, increase purchase frequency, improve ARPU/AOV and strengthen customer retention;
- Conducting competitive and market analysis to identify new opportunities;
- Collaborating with Marketing, Commercial, Product, Finance and other internal teams to translate partnership ideas into executable campaigns;
- Leading and supporting a small team responsible for partnership reporting, budget reconciliation, campaign performance and operational excellence.
What the Role Requires
Alongside strong relationship management, the ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing partnerships with bank executives, challenging campaign business cases, assessing the numbers behind proposals and working across multiple teams to deliver results. Qualified candidates should demonstrate the following:
- 6+ years of experience across business development, strategic partnerships, banking, fintech, payments, eCommerce, consulting or another technology-led business;
- A strong understanding of platform/merchant growth beyond marketing, including experience working with customer portfolios, acquiring users, building user habits, increasing engagement, growing ARPU/AOV and improving retention;
- Strong commercial and quantitative capability. Financial and quantitative analysis is essential, as partnership decisions are driven by economics as well as relationships;
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to structure propositions in which Lazada, the partner and the customer all have a reason to participate;
- The ability to influence without direct authority, working across banks, Marketing, Product, Commercial and Finance;
- Comfort with ambiguity, as some of the best opportunities arrive without a ready-made playbook;
- Strong written and spoken English, with Mandarin an advantage;
- Experience in digital payments, cards, fintech or eCommerce is highly relevant;
- A bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering or a related discipline from a reputable university is preferred.
