Job summary

Sea Labs Indonesia in Jakarta is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable services powering Sea's platforms. You will work with distributed systems, microservices, and AI-enabled features across Shopee's ecosystem.

You will mentor teammates, review code, and collaborate with product, frontend, and QA, integrating AI tools and ensuring robust deployment through CI/CD in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience (Java, Go, or Python preferred).
• Strong distributed systems, microservices, and API design knowledge.
• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and Redis caching.
• Solid CI/CD, automated testing, and deployment practices.
• Ability to perform constructive code reviews and improve code quality.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate work.
• Hands-on with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, scalable backend systems.
• Write clean, maintainable code using engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and QA teams.
• Lead technical design discussions and produce design documents.
• Conduct constructive code reviews to improve team quality.
• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into backend services where applicable.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews and pairing.
• Identify technical debt and performance bottlenecks, driving fixes.
• Communicate constraints and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
