Job description

As Senior AI and Machine Learning Engineer at DANA, you will play a strategic role in designing and deploying intelligent systems that transform Big Data into impactful Data Products powering the DANA mobile app. You will lead high-impact initiatives that integrate advanced AI/ML technologies into real-world applications, driving innovation, automation, and smarter experiences for millions of users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and end-to-end development of AI/ML models, from classical machine learning on structured data to cutting-edge Generative AI solutions including Transformers and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).
  • Architect scalable and production-ready machine learning pipelines, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and maintainability across the full development lifecycle—data ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, analytics, and business units) to translate business objectives into AI/ML solutions that deliver measurable impact.
  • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML research and technology; proactively evaluate and integrate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to improve model performance and development workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to responsible AI practices, including fairness, explainability, and model governance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field. Background in quantitative social sciences with strong technical foundation is also considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering or data science roles, including leading end-to-end AI/ML projects.
    • Proven track record of deploying models into production environments and optimizing for performance at scale.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and Bash is required.
    • Experience with ML libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Hugging Face.
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a strong advantage.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Advanced critical thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to translate complex data problems into impactful solutions.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong stakeholder management and ability to bridge technical and business discussions effectively.
    • Experience in mentoring or leading a technical team is highly desirable.
