Job summary

Manulife seeks a seasoned IFRS17 actuary to produce reserves and end-to-end production insights. You will drive quarterly and annual group reporting and partner with accounting and regional teams on IFRS17 treatment.

The role demands strong communication, English fluency, and actuarial software experience (AXIS). Power BI capability is a plus, with a chance to coach juniors and improve templates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in math/statistics/actuarial required.
  • Fellow of an actuarial organization preferred.
  • Fluent in English; good communication with other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Driver of Earning template and analyze IFRS17 portfolios for quarter end.
  • Produce Quarterly and Annual Group Reporting.
  • Collaborate with accounting team on reserve booking and regional IFRS17 reporting treatment.
  • Support IFRS17 Core Earning and CSM monthly forecast and management reporting.
  • Handle MMR and Health MMR and related business reviews.

Job description

Position Responsibilities:
  • Produce an accurate and timely IFRS17 reserve (including non-system reserve) and understand the end to end production process
  • In charge of Driver of Earning template preparation and its analysis of some IFRS17 portfolios in Quarter End
  • Produce an accurate and timely Quarterly and Annual Group Reporting
  • Work closely with accounting team in regards of reserve booking and regional team in regards IFRS17 technical and reporting treatment
  • To work closely with VSSC team regarding production model as well as model change management for IFRS17 basis
  • To support IFRS17 Core Earning and CSM monthly forecast and analysis as well as management reporting
  • Handling MMR (and Health MMR) and Business Review material for IFRS17
  • To continuously seek opportunity to improve the process efficiency such as developing template enhancement or automation tools for analysis in both actual reporting and forecast
  • In charge on ad-hoc actuarial projects related to IFRS17 metrics with other teams
  • Coaching junior team member and provide peer review of other team member results
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree, math/statistics/actuarial background is preferable, with minimum 5 years of work experience
  • Fellow of an actuarial organization (e.g. PAI, SOA, IAAust, IA)
  • Advance user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Demonstrate a good communication with other teams
  • Preferable some prior knowledge of actuarial software (AXIS)
  • Preferable some prior experience in coaching / managing juniors / team
  • Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Intermediate to Advance user of Power BI
  • Have experience on IFRS17 reporting
