SEN Teaching Assistant

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support students 1:1 and in small groups across primary, secondary, or college settings.
   
2. Work with students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties, providing tailored support.
   
3. Assist teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs, using PECS, Makaton, and sensory-based learning.
   
4. Help students develop confidence, independence, and social skills through structured interventions.
   
5. Implement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support when needed.
   
6. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to create a nurturing learning environment.
   
7. Encourage inclusion and engagement, ensuring all students have access to learning opportunities.

Who We're Looking For:

1. Graduates in Psychology, Education, SEN, Social Work, or related fields looking for hands-on experience.
2. Experienced Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, or Support Workers with a passion for SEN.
3. A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to working with children and young people.
4. Knowledge or experience of SEN strategies such as PECS, Makaton, Team Teach, or de-escalation techniques (desirable but not essential).
5. A willingness to learn and take part in ongoing CPD and training.
