All services operated by Xanterra, including lodging, dining, retail, and tour operations, are currently open and continue to operate as planned for the 2025 summer season. Any potential government layoffs within the National Park Service do not impact our positions or job offers.

The Details:

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $57304 per year
Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Housing: Eligible for a private 1-bedroom apartment for $352 per month

Responsibilities

• Supervise and advise the shift patrols.
• Assist National Park Service Law Enforcement and/or Fire Control Departments on scene, and follow instructions/directives given by scene commander.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with National Park Service Law Enforcement and Fire Control Departments.
• Resolve situations within your control and within guidelines established by Risk Management, Fire & Security Department, and National Park Service Law Enforcement.
• Respond to security calls.
• Escort Accounting personnel on cash runs and deposit runs, providing security escort service to the Accounting personnel.
• Coordinate the scheduling of the Security Officers.
• Provide training for the security officers as needed
• Adhere to all safety, Risk Management and environmental policies.
• AHMA Lodging and Security Officer Certification must be obtained within thirty days of hire (provided by Xanterra).
• Must obtain BAT and Urinalysis training (provided by Xanterra).
• Ordering and control of Security uniforms and other department supplies.
• Conduct annual performance reviews of employees.
• Develop and maintain a property patrol system.
• Will be required to work variable shifts as assigned by Risk Director/Battalion Chief.
• Coordinate all levels of building/fire/security inspections with appropriate personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least twenty-one years of age at time of hire.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal, and problem solving skills; plus ability to interact effectively with guests, employees and other designated officials.
• Ability to calmly deal with medical, fire, security or safety situations.
• Working knowledge of radio communications.
• Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
