We’re hiring a Risk & Safety Training Specialist to Live. Work. Explore. at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!
The Details:
- Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
- Pay: $17.85 per hour
- Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Housing: Eligible for a private room in a shared apartment for $267 per month.

Responsibilities
- Project a positive and welcoming presentation to all new staff. Always maintain an enthusiastic presentation of all training materials, representing the department and company in the most encouraging manner.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational skills.
- Possess excellent presentation skills.
- You can successfully flex across training mediums (in-person, blended, remote), tailoring to your audience and considering factors such as culture, technology, and learning styles.
- Experience in creating training calendars, visual aids, teaching aids and class outlines.
- Present information on workplace safety to all new hires at general safety orientation.
- Facilitate property and corporate safety training on a rotational basis to all members of the South Rim Xanterra Team, including Hermit Rest and Phantom Range.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting effective classroom training and individual coaching.
- Previous experience in training and orientation of new employees.
- Ability to work independently in an organized and productive manner to complete projects.
- Previous experience providing highly technical safety training and/or working in a safety environment is a plus.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint software.
- Facilitate annual safety refresher courses to designated staff from all departments.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with all department trainers, managers, and supervisors.
- Schedule required training classes and track employee participation through Xanterra’s Learning Management System, L3.
- Promote a culture of safety among South Rim employees in conjunction with Xanterra corporate directives.
- Function as a member of the Safety Committee and serve on an appointed subcommittee.
- Oversee the Live Life campaign, manage poster placement, and produce/distribute monthly Supervisor Discussion Guides.
- Maintain current CPR Instructor status.
- Work and practice the Xanterra Core Values and Mission set forth by Xanterra South Rim.
- Maintain Job Safety Analysis (JSA) database: ensure department compliance and facilitate annual reviews of JSAs.
- Work with the Risk Manager to keep all Safety Programs updated according to law.
- Maintain current certifications required for training curriculum, and participate in meetings and seminars to update training programs.
- Champion key training initiatives and develop programs to ensure successful adoption of new technologies and policies.
- Develop training strategies including schedule, content, and assessments, leveraging existing tools for both in-person and self-paced training.
- Conduct scheduled safety audits and write reports for management review.
- Build positive professional relationships with staff and management.
- Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the company vehicle policy.
- Support the Worker Claim process by transporting employees to medical centers.
- Support remote locations (Hermit Rest and Phantom Range).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
