Café Materia, a soon-to-open Mediterranean café/restaurant in Surabaya, is looking for an energetic and experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our team. Our space is more than just a restaurant - it's a community hub where guests can relax in hammocks, enjoy shareable plates, or work with a cup of coffee. Children can play in an educational corner while parents enjoy our seasonal menu.
What we're looking for:
Minimum 3 years experience as restaurant manager (café/hospitality)
Financial management knowledge (COGS, payroll, inventory)
Experience with team training & hospitality standards
Flexibility for rotating shifts (morning to evening).
A social, solution-oriented personality with good communication skill.
Leadership skills and team management experience.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
A passion for the culinary world, quality, presentation, and hospitality.
Prefer who already have K3 or first aid training certificates.
Job Description:
1. Planning and Budgeting
Create monthly budget plan in collaboration with the head chef, to be reviewed and submitted for approval by Management.
Responsible for the implementation and control of the approved operational budget.
2. Product Pricing and Cost Control
Manage the latest viral products and establish policies that can be implemented in the cafe, then regulate if there is a change in price on products and raw materials.
3. Customer Experience
Lead and oversee the implementation of exceptional customer service standards.
Ensure consistent product quality control, professional atmosphere, and a clean and well-maintained environment to improve overall service quality.
Inform and follow hospitality service trends and standards to ensure superior service.
4. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Develop, oversee, and ensure effective implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and regulations in accordance with applicable policies.
Ensure consistent implementation of cost control measures to support revenue growth.
Oversee the implementation and scheduling of general cleaning activities.
5. Marketing & Promotion
Create simple social media promotions by providing content ideas or sharing content with other cafe staff.
6. Menu & Food Presentation
Provide valuable input on new menu development and menu engineering.
Monitor and review food presentation standards to maximize customer satisfaction.
Provide insight into food costs to maintain stable and manageable cost levels.
7. Human Resource Management
Evaluate the effectiveness of the store’s organizational structure.
Monitor and review employee performance, including promotions and internal rotations.
Conduct training and mentoring sessions.
Manage employee development, evaluation, and performance improvement processes.
Collaborate with the Human Resource department for recruitment to ensure alignment with staffing needs.
Ensure all staff adhere to established rules, regulations, and SOPs.
8. Reporting
Prepare weekly operational sales reports and monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) reports.
