Qualifications

• Strong business acumen: market trends, HPP, commercially viable formulas
• Deep knowledge of BPOM, Halal certification workflows, and MSDS requirements
• Experience with laboratory testing, stability testing, microbial analysis, and chemical safety

Job Overview

As the R&D Manager, you will hold the steering wheel for our product portfolio’s innovation, formulation, and commercial viability. This is not just a lab-bound role; you will act as the strategic bridge between executive vision and ground-level execution. You will view the product life cycle from a helicopter perspective—balancing scientific excellence with business acumen, cost efficiency (HPP), market trends, and regulatory compliance. You will lead the end-to-end R&D workflow, from translating high-level product concepts into stable, high-quality formulas to ensuring flawless, on-time launch timelines.

Key Responsibilities (Job Description)

1. Strategic Alignment & Helicopter-View Leadership

• Act as the core bridge translating the Board of Directors’ strategic vision into actionable laboratory workflows and final marketable products
• Oversee multi-project R&D timelines with a macro-view, ensuring commercial production alignment and strict adherence to product launch calendars.

2. Commercial Formulation & HPP Optimization

• Lead the research, formulation, and technical development of new product lines while maintaining a sharp focus on business metrics, Cost of Goods Sold (HPP), and profitability targets
• Source and evaluate new raw materials, active ingredients, and packaging innovations to optimize existing lines and drive cost-efficiency without compromising quality

3. Compliance, Regulatory & Governance Integration

• Oversee and ensure that all developed formulas inherently comply with national and international regulatory standards (e.g., BPOM, Halal Certification, and MSDS requirements).
• Prepare comprehensive technical data sheets, ingredient specifications, and stability reports for a seamless, compliant handover to the Regulatory and Production teams.

4. Advanced Product Claim Validation & Lab Oversight

• Manage and validate all technical product claims by directing collaborations with independent third-party laboratories, testing facilities, and clinical research centers.
• Audit and supervise the scientific methodologies and laboratory protocols utilized by third parties to ensure data outputs are legally defensible and highly accurate

5. Technical Discrepancy & Trouble Resolution

• Investigate and resolve complex technical product complaints or formulation discrepancies, leveraging research data to provide permanent structural solutions for manufacturing scaling.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or a highly relevant scientific discipline
• Experience: Minimum of 3–4 years of professional experience in Product R&D / Laboratory Formulation, with at least 1–2 years in a Senior, Supervisory, or Managerial capacity within the Skincare, Cosmetics, or Household products industry.
• Business & Market Acumen: Proven ability to analyze market trends, calculate/manage HPP, and design formulas that are commercially viable
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of BPOM regulations, Halal certification workflows, and global safety standards (MSDS).
• Testing Systems Expertise: Strong operational knowledge of laboratory testing equipment, stability testing methodologies, microbial analysis, and chemical safety standards.
• Data & Project Management: Exceptional skills in compiling structured technical reports from raw statistical data and managing complex, fast-paced product launch timelines.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of managing technical contracts and workflows with laboratory vendors, research agencies, and cross-functional internal teams.
