Job summary

ClientEarth is seeking a qualified Lawyer specializing in energy transition and biodiversity law to support its REM and FOLU programs in Southeast Asia. This remote role (Jakarta region) focuses on advancing a low‑carbon transition while conserving biodiversity across Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and the broader region.

You will conduct legal research, draft policy analyses, and engage with government agencies, industry, civil society and donors.

Qualifications

• Fluent English at CEFR C2 level.
• Fluent Bahasa Indonesia or Filipino at CEFR C2 level.
• Law degree or equivalent.
• Experience in energy law, policy, and regulation.
• Experience in biodiversity conservation law, policy, and regulation.
• Knowledge of the energy transition and nature conservation.
• Ability to engage external stakeholders and represent ClientEarth.

Responsibilities

• Strategy development and regional priorities aligned with global plans.
• Conduct legal research on energy transition and biodiversity law.
• Engage with stakeholders across Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and the region.
• Develop and maintain relationships and present work to stakeholders.
