Job description

With most of our staff operating directly on the ground where the issues are, we work with our members and partners to make value chains an engine of prosperity for communities and ecosystems.

We see a world where forests are a boundless source of materials and a home for biodiversity; communities see their rights respected and have opportunities to develop; workers are seen as productive partners, and agriculture becomes the instrument to feed a hungry planet and keep our climate stable.

Your Role

As the Regional GIS Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Provide senior leadership and line management for 5 GIS staff across our Indo Pacific offices. You will be tasked with fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the team's continued professional growth.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Strategically collaborate with the Global GIS Lead to direct project planning and prioritization. You will ensure all regional GIS efforts are critically aligned with the organization's overarching global objectives and act as the central point of contact for senior stakeholders in Indo Pacific.
  • GIS Support for Global Workstreams: This role provides GIS support to our global workstreams, with a focus on improving our data and processes.
  • Data and Process Improvement: Ensure high-quality data is used across all projects. You will also help improve the efficiency of our GIS work by automating workflows and expanding our databases.
  • Monitoring and Analysis: Manage and respond to alerts from our monitoring systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Palm Oil and Cocoa teams to support their work, especially for tasks related to supply chain transparency and traceability.
  • Coordination of Global Supply Chain Support: Act as the thematic lead for GIS activities related to global supply chains, primarily focusing on Palm Oil Traceability.
Your Profile

With at least seven years of experience in the field, you possess deep expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with advanced proficiency in the ESRI product suite. You have a proven track record of managing complex, end-to-end GIS and data-focused projects, even under high pressure.

As an experienced people manager, you excel at leading, mentoring, and building resilient, high-performing teams across multiple projects. Your strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive mindset enable you to anticipate and resolve challenges effectively.

Fluent in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, you communicate with clarity and confidence across senior leadership and diverse international teams. Knowledge of another Asian language is a plus. Your proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) allows you to handle data and present insights effectively.

You have a deep and practical understanding of Indonesian land use planning processes, regulatory frameworks, and commodity supply chains (Palm oil, Pulp & Paper), which are essential for this role.
