Job summary

PT Mikatasa Agung is seeking an experienced R&D chemist to develop and optimize adhesive formulations, with emphasis on water-based, solvent-based, acrylic, and hot-melt products. You will conduct formulation work, lab trials, and performance evaluations to meet customer needs and industry standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years in adhesive R&D, strong analytical and project management skills, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with practical lab/industry experience.
• Proven record in adhesive formulation development, especially water-based or solvent-based.
• Experience with acrylic or hot-melt adhesives is a strong plus.
• Strong knowledge of raw materials, formulation chemistry, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with product validation, scale-up, and cross-functional teamwork.

Job description

Develop and optimize high-quality, cost-competitive adhesive formulations, especially water-based, solvent-based, acrylic, and/or hot melt adhesive products.

Conduct product formulation, laboratory trials, and performance evaluations to ensure products meet customer requirements and industry standards.

Perform benchmarking against competitor products and identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

Coordinate product testing, validation, and quality evaluation with the QA Department and/or external testing laboratories.

Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Production, and Purchasing teams to support new product development, customer requirements, pricing strategy, cost optimization (COGS), and gross profit (GP) targets.

Evaluate raw materials and identify alternative materials to improve product performance, supply continuity, and cost efficiency.

Ensure the successful scale-up of new formulations from laboratory trials to production and commercial launch.

Provide technical support to internal teams and customers regarding product performance, application, and troubleshooting.

Stay updated with market trends, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to adhesive products.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (Pure Chemistry) or Chemical Engineering.

Minimum 3 years of experience in Research & Development within the adhesive industry.

Proven experience in developing adhesive formulations, particularly water-based and solvent-based adhesives, with experience in acrylic adhesive and/or hot melt adhesive considered a strong advantage.

Strong understanding of adhesive raw materials, formulation chemistry, production processes, and manufacturing equipment.

Familiar with laboratory testing methods, product validation, and scale-up processes from laboratory to commercial production.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and interact with customers.

Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Willing to be based in Jatiuwung, Tangerang, Banten.
