Position Description:
The role cooperates with the Product Operations team to make sure that all product specs, performance needs, and finished products are manufactured in accordance with brand performance expectations and to eliminate possible issues/ defects. The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring delivery of shoes that meet the brand expectations by working on a hands-on approach with their assigned factory.
This role directly reports to the Quality Engineering Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
The Quality Engineer will leverage the footwear manufacturing knowledge to manage quality in their assigned factory, they will also be expected to make decisions on quality related issues to ensure smooth production flow.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Responsible for quality management at the factory level ensuring all shipments meet specifications, technical details are embedded into product, and factories comply with WWW production and technical requirements.
- Partner with Product Operations teams to ensure production is ready for mass production at T4, offering assistance to set up processes as needed.
- Participate in communication with brands on Quality related topics, issue valid and sustainable resolutions in a timely manner, and manage quality claims with close collaboration with the Product Integrity and Production Operations teams.
- Drive and execute Quality continuous improvement activities internally and externally with factory partners.
- Implement, train, coach and evaluate WWW’s Certified Factory Auditor (CFA) program. Carry out calibration audits as required.
- Participate and contribute product technical, quality process and manufacturing inputs as requested. Usually at; Tear-down meetings, in the commercialization, pilot run validation, and manufacturing stages to ensure a successful implementation of new projects.
- Partner with the materials teams when requested to ensure local material supply is developed as much as possible.
Experience and Educational qualifications
- A Minimum of 6 years experience in footwear manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge of footwear, from design to manufacturing which includes a comprehensive understanding of materials, components, construction, patterns, outsoles and lasts.
- Highly focused and a clear communicator, able to work closely and communicate effectively both internally and externally, effectively share information as required ensuring best manufacturing practices are implemented.
- Ability to build partnerships across departments and collaborate across functional areas.
- Strong understanding of quality 6-sigma concepts, lean principles, best quality practices, smart jigs, tooling, manufacturing automation and innovation.
- An in depth understanding of factory efficiencies as well as possessing the vision to guide teams to achieve this with factory partner buy-in.

- Familiarity with creation and editing of manuals, SOPs, policies including English written quality, engineering and technical documentation and guidelines.
