Job summary

Oil States Industries in Batam is seeking a QC Inspector (Welding & Coating) to uphold quality across welding, coating, and related inspections. You will perform fit-up, welding, dimensional and NDT checks and ensure compliance with WPS and manufacturing route sheets.

The role requires a diploma or degree in engineering or science, at least five years in QC for welding and coating, and preferred certifications such as CWI or CSWIP 3.1.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering or Science.
• Minimum 5 years QC experience for welding and coating inspection.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP 3.1 preferred.
• Coating inspector Level 2 (NACE/BGAS/SSPC/FROSIO).
• NDT Level II (MPI, DPI, UT & RT) preferred.
• Familiar with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW welding processes.
• Indonesian applicant eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform fit-up, welding, dimensional, material inspections.
• Coating inspection: surface prep, WFT/DFT checks, visual and adhesion.
• Inspect welding parameters per WPS and Manufacturing Route Sheet.
• Visual inspection before, during and after welding for workmanship.
• Prepare inspection reports for QC Engineer and Master Control review.
• Coordinate radiographic tests and load tests with vendors.
• Interpret radiographs and advise production or repairs.
• Ensure route sheets, WPS and drawings are available to welders.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections such as fit-up, welding, dimensional, material, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, hardness testing, etc.
• To perform any coating inspection activities (Surface preparation, atmospheric condition, WFT and DFT checks, Visual inspection, adhesion and additional testing requirement)
• Execute welding inspection to monitor and verify the welding parameters as per WPS are followed.
• Conduct visual inspection before, during and after welding for good workmanship standards.
• Confirm in-process, Final, Welding Inspections and Heat treatments are carried out according to the Manufacturing Route Sheet.
• Prepare inspection Reports and submit through Master Control for QC Engineer approval, if necessary to obtain Third Party Approval, reports shall be printed and submitted to QC Engineer for review prior to the Master Control Upload.
• Prepare requests and coordinate with vendors for radiographic tests, load test etc.
• Interpret radiographic films and advise Production or repair as required for known defect.
• Ensure relevant documents such as route sheets, WPS, drawings and etc., are made available to the welders and/or operators during work.

Qualification

• Minimum Diploma, Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 year(s) of QC for Welding and Coating inspection with knowledge in fabrication and manufacturing.
• Certified welding inspector from CWI or CSWIP 3.1 is preferred.
• Certified coating inspector Level 2 as per NACE, BGAS, SSPC or FROSIO.
• NDT Level II in MPI, DPI, UT & RT as per SNT-TC-1A or PCN, is preferred.
• Familiar with welding process such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW and etc.
• Familiar with welding of AISI 4130, AISI 8630, F22 and X80 material preferred.
• Applicable for Indonesian.
