YOUR IMPACT

In the role of Python Developer, your work can be in a range of various tasks:

Root-cause-analysis and fixes: When issues arise, you’ll analyse the problem, communicate findings to the team, and implement solutions to resolve bugs or performance issues.

Monitoring: You’ll track our applications (or solutions) uptime and performance to detect potential issues early.

Maintenance: You’ll ensure applications and solutions stay up-to-date with the latest standards and dependencies.

Application testing: You’ll write clean, efficient Python code based on business needs, ensuring the software is functional and bug-free through testing and debugging.

Python analysis for tender and project support: You’ll perform Python-based analysis to support decision-making in tenders and ongoing projects, helping ensure successful project outcomes.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for:

BSc or MSc degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or other relevant fields

2+ years relevant experience as a (Python) developer

Demonstrable proficiency in Python and knowledge in web development framework (e.g. Pyramid, FastAPI)

You know your way around software version control (git), test suites, technical documentation, and CI/CD practices

Good command of spoken and written English

You are fulltime available (minimal 40 hours) and willing to travel daily to our office in Cibubur

ABOUT THE DATALAB TEAM (in Rotterdam)

In the position of Python Developer you will be part of the Datalab’s expansion in Indonesia and working from Cibubur office, just South of Jakarta. Datalab is organisationally part of the Engineering & Estimating (E&E) department together with about 15 other disciplines. Since both engineering and estimating involve working with extensive amounts of data for our tenders and projects, Datalab’s goal is to deliver data in the right quality at the right time to the right people.

Datalab’s activities range from project-specific data analysis to industry-standard web applications & REST APIs, and everything in between. The key to Datalab’s success is that we provide pragmatic solution to real-world problems with a relatively open-source stack (i.e. PostgreSQL, Python, JupyterLab, Grafana), and enable engineers to change the way we work. Examples of recent developments are portal for collection, analysis, and distribution of our projects’ geotechnical, coastal, and environmental data; our fleet’s sensory (IoT), and logistic simulation tool.

ABOUT THE TEAM IN JAKARTA

In the position of Python Developer you will be part of one of the Van Oord teams in Indonesia. Currently 25 people are working from the office in Cibubur, just South of Jakarta, as part of the Van Oord Engineering & Estimating Department, located in The Netherlands.
