Project Communication Coordinator

Child Safeguarding: Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Project Communications Coordinator is responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of Save the Children Indonesia's (SC IDN) program communication strategy that is aligned with SCIDN institutional communications objectives. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, timely, and impactful communications that support organizational goals, enhance visibility, and drive engagement with external stakeholders. This role will also ensure alignment between all communication activities and product with SC IDN's core values, program log frame, and Country Strategic Plan (CSP), ensuring consistency, effectiveness, and strategic coherence. Additionally, the Project Communications Coordinator will provide guidance, capacity-building support, and performance oversight.

KEY AREA OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Proposal Support and Project Communication Plan Development

In collaboration with the proposal development team and project team, the Project Communications Coordinator will:
  • Develop project communications strategy to achieve project objectives and align with SCIDN communications strategy at the national level, in coordination with SCIDN Strategic Communications Unit. Provide well-structured content for the proposal's communication and visibility section.
  • Review donor guidelines to understand communication expectations, branding policies, and visibility requirements, and ensure alignment with donor-specific messaging, advocacy priorities, and reporting standards.
  • Work closely with technical teams to integrate clear, impactful communication strategies into project proposals, and define tailored messaging and activities for stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure that proposed communication activities demonstrate measurable impact and sustainability.

Project Communications
  • Supervise SCIDN implementing partners in execute project communication strategies aligned with organizational branding and project objectives, including support production of education and information materials, behavior change communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • In Collaboration with Strategic Communications unit and Partnership Unit, capacity building related to project communications for partners according to SCIDN partners capacity building plan as part of localization initiative.
  • Develop and review various communications products or contents/stories for reports, newsletters, and other communications materials, ensure consistency of messaging and branding. Ensure timely and effective project information sharing with key stakeholders.
  • Lead to provide the communication needs during emergency responses.
  • Monitor effective implementation of project communication initiatives as well as provide recommendations as necessary.
  • Work closely (contributed) with Project Manager / Project Lead in report writing for communications related content such as case study and documentation.
  • Serve as the project communications-related focal point with implementing partners, as well as local media outlets to enhance program visibility.
  • In collaboration with Strategic Communications Unit, manage and maintain a centralized repository of communication assets including photos, videos, case studies, quotes, and testimonials for use in campaigns, donor reports, and media outreach. Ensure all materials are properly archived and tagged for easy access and retrieval.
  • Ensure all communication and media products and activity align and comply with the Communication and Media protocol.

National and Project Campaigns/Event Support
  • Provide communications support related to projects for brand, marketing, fundraising, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives events, and public affairs activities, including planning, promotional content, on-site coverage, and post-event documentation.
  • Develop SCIDN project communications materials/contents as required by SCIDN strategic communications unit for national and international engagement/exposure.
  • Provide support related to project communications to increase SCIDN staff understanding about the projects and collaborations as one team in achieving more project impacts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential
  1. Bachelor's degree in communications or related field with minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, media, public relations, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in NGOs or development sectors.
  2. Strong understanding of child-rights related issues in Indonesia and proven experience working on projects implementation with multiple stakeholders.
  3. Expertise in content creation, media relations, and campaign management with high quality of writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  4. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to engage with internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders, with solid experience in supervising staff and leading communication initiatives.
  5. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Desirable
  1. Experience working in humanitarian, development, or disaster response programs
  2. Proven experience in behaviour changes communications and community development practices
  3. Familiarity with advocacy, campaign, and crisis communication strategies
  4. Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia content production (photography, audio and film skills)
  5. Experience in working in a multicultural environment
