Job summary

National Oilwell Varco seeks a Welding Production Engineer to provide qualified welding engineering support across projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality welding from prefabrication to final assembly. You will coordinate welding activities to meet procedures, specs, productivity and delivery targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or diploma in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Fresh graduates welcome; 1–3 years experience in welding production is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of welding processes, WPS/PQR, welder qualifications and NDT.
• Basic knowledge of welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO 1906).
• CSWIP 3.0/3.1, IWE/IWT, NDT or equivalent is an advantage.
• Good communication, coordination, problem-solving, teamwork and time-management skills.
• Proactive, eager to learn, able to work in fast-paced fabrication/production environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with ability to prepare basic production reports and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Review project specs, drawings, codes, standards, WPSs and NDT requirements for welding compliance.
• Coordinate welding documentation including WPSs, welder qualifications, registers and test coupons.
• Plan welding work fronts, station layouts, manpower, equipment, consumables, production targets and logistics.
• Monitor welding production and quality; ensure fit-up, preheating, consumable control and procedure compliance.
• Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Construction, Scaffolding and Project Management teams for efficient workflow.
• Track welding progress, productivity, NDT results, repair rates, equipment and consumable needs.
• Investigate welding defects, delays and nonconformities; implement corrective actions and improvements.
• Support achievement of production, quality, safety, schedule and cost objectives; minimize rework and repairs.

The Production Welding Engineer will coordinate and improve welding activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production while achieving project targets, minimizing weld repairs, and ensuring timely welding resources and technical support.

• 5.Professional welding certification such as CSWIP 3.0. 3.1, IWE/IWT, NDT or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
