As part of the Production Engineering team, the Production Engineer is responsible for ensuring that machines and equipment are maintained in optimal condition to support smooth production operations. Additionally, they provide troubleshooting assistance to the Production, Quality and Assembly teams for any machine, equipment or quality related issues. Our Production Engineers will also work closely with our Engineering team in Melbourne, Australia when we are transferring new products into production.
Specialist Skills and Knowledge
- Must have strong English Skills, both verbal and written.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years Experience in Engineering / Manufacturing / QA Environment Role.
- Good investigative and problem-solving skills
- Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively as well as part of a team unit
- Basic computer knowledge i.e. Excel, Word etc.
- Be able to work as part of a team and as well as communicate well with other departments
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct testing of incoming goods, including salt, load, and UV tests, to ensure compliance with design and specification requirements.
- Assist production with setup during operations in the Rigging Cell.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on machines, equipment, and other facilities to prevent production failures.
- Design and repair simple jigs and fixtures to support smooth production processes.
- Implement and carry out maintenance programs for machinery, equipment, and other production facilities.
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory for machines, assembly tools, and equipment.
- Provide adequate training for production line workers.
- Support new product introduction processes.
- Prepare and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for any issues related to incoming goods.
- Rework rejected parts from the Assembly Department to salvage valuable components where possible.
Shared Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
- Support scheduled gauge calibration and ensure the availability of tooling and master samples.
- Assist in setting up new production systems, including both new and transferred systems.
- Ensure MRP data (Bills of Materials, production routes, tooling information, manufacturing data, etc.) is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain and update all manufacturing aids, including product drawings, setup sheets, standard operating procedures, master samples, boundary samples, and gauging.
- Identify, assess, and record quality and safety concerns, ensuring that clear corrective actions are applied.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and service providers to resolve technical issues as needed.
- Oversee and ensure contractors carry out their work with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Undertake departmental tasks as assigned by the Production Engineering Manager.
