Job summary

PT Sentosa Hastareksa is seeking a Product Designer to join the R&D team for wooden toy and custom products. You will translate concepts into precise 3D models and drawings for CNC, ensuring compliance with EN 71 and ASTM F963 for global markets.

Ideal candidates have a 2+ year track record in physical product design, solidworks/autocad proficiency, and a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in physical product design / manufacturing (wooden toy or furniture experience a plus).
• Bonus: interest or knowledge in early childhood development.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of solid wood materials and woodworking/CNC limits.
• Portfolio showing concept, technical drawings, and final results (required).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop educational wooden toy concepts aligned with international trends.

PT Sentosa Hastareksa is seeking a Product Designer to join the R&D team for the OEM Wooden Toys & Custom Products division. The role involves designing and developing educational wooden toys for international markets, particularly the United States and Europe. You will translate design concepts into high-precision 3D models and technical drawings for CNC machine execution, while ensuring compliance with international toy safety standards.

Key responsibilities

Design and develop educational wooden toy concepts aligned with international market trends

Translate design ideas into high-precision 3D modelling and technical drawings (2D/3D) for CNC machine execution

Ensure all designs meet and comply with international toy safety standards, particularly EN 71 (Europe) and ASTM F963 (USA), including corner radius, choking hazard requirements, and similar specifications

Collaborate closely with Master Prototyper / Sample Maker during prototyping phase to test product ergonomics and ensure wood cutting efficiency (cutting yield) in mass production

Work with the marketing team to produce photorealistic 3D visuals and renders for B2B catalogues and pitch decks to global buyers

About you

Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Minimum 2 years of experience in physical product design / manufacturing (experience in furniture or wooden toy industry is a significant advantage)

Bonus Point: Genuine interest or foundational knowledge in early childhood development (e.g., fine and gross motor skills, sensory stimulation, age-appropriate design).

Proficient and experienced with industrial design software, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Strong understanding of solid wood material characteristics (Jabon, Pulai, Rubberwood) and mechanical limitations of woodworking / CNC machines

Product design portfolio demonstrating the process from concept, technical drawings, to final results (required)
