Job summary

Alta Exchange is seeking a Product Designer to join a small, hands-on design team and shape the platforms powering its marketplace for alternative investments. You will design features and flows across core and client product suites, turning complex financial workflows into intuitive experiences for investors, issuers, and internal teams.

You’ll work closely with a senior designer, PMs and engineers, involved from problem understanding and user research to prototyping, handoff and iteration

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of product design (UI/UX) experience, in-house, agency or freelance.
• A strong portfolio with at least 2 case studies showing process and learnings, not just final screens.
• At least one shipped product or feature you can discuss in detail.
• Comfortable in Figma, with a working understanding of how software gets built.
• Confident communicating in English, written and spoken.
• Curious and open to feedback, with a genuine interest in growing your craft alongside a senior designer.
• Balances outcomes for both users and the business.

Responsibilities

About The Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our small, hands-on design team and help shape the platforms that power Alta’s marketplace for alternative investments. You’ll design features and flows across our core and client product suites, turning complex financial workflows and data into experiences that feel clear and intuitive for investors, issuers and internal teams.

Working closely with a senior designer, product managers and engineers, you’ll be involved in the full design process, from understanding the problem and supporting user research to prototyping, handoff and iteration after launch. This is a great fit for someone with a few years of product design experience who wants real ownership of their work, room to grow their craft, and the chance to learn a fast-moving corner of fintech along the way.

What You’ll Do

• Own features and flows end-to-end, from problem framing and research support through wireframes, prototypes, handoff and post-launch iteration, with guidance from a senior designer
• Turn complex workflows and financial data into clear, usable screens in Figma
• Use and contribute/iterate to our existing design system so products stay consistent
• Partner with PMs, engineers and QA to understand requirements and make sure designs ship as intended
• Maintain regular updates and communications with team members, ensure alignment on design decisions, and refine based on feedback with cross functional teams.

In your first 6 months, you might

• Ship features end to end, keep the experience consistent across products, and shape the design system
• Learn to work with our design libraries and system: create new components and patterns and help maintain and refine the existing ones
• Turn product requirements into flows and mockups, and run design sessions with PMs and engineers
• Stay involved throughout feature development and testing, balancing quality with speed.

What We’re Looking For

• Around 2–3 years of product design (UI/UX) experience, in-house, agency or freelance

• At least one shipped product or feature you can talk discuss in detail
• Comfortable in Figma, with a working understanding of how software gets built
• Confident communicating in English, written and spoken, including explaining design decisions to non-designers
• Curious and open to feedback, with a genuine interest in growing your craft alongside a senior designer.
• Balances outcomes for both users and the business

Preferred (Nice To Have)

• Experience with Jira, Confluence or product analytics tools
• Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Figma AI) in your design workflow
• A solid understanding of the SDLC and how a product is delivered as end-to-end working software
• Prior experience in fintech, finance, or investment platforms is a plus
