A leading retail/trading company seeks a Supply Chain Manager to oversee procurement and international trade operations. The ideal candidate will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure compliance with trade regulations. With a focus on cost control and effective negotiation, this position will play a key role in optimizing the supply chain to meet operational goals.
JOB GOALS
To lead and manage all procurement and international trade operations for merchandise and non-merchandise items in a retail/trading environment. This role combines strategic sourcing, cost control, and supplier management with import-export execution, ensuring compliance, timely deliveries, and optimal inventory flow
JOB DESCRIPTION
Develop and implement procurement strategies for merchandise (products for resale) and operational goods.
Monitor retail trends and sales data to align procurement with demand planning and turnover objectives.
Source and qualify both local and international vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
Negotiate contracts and maintain supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply chains.
Control procurement budgets and generate savings through effective negotiation and vendor consolidation.
Manage and coordinate international shipments including documentation, permits, and customs clearance.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations (e.g. HS Codes, Incoterms, duties & taxes).
Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Ensure all procurement and import/export activities comply with company policies and national/international trade regulations.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, especially related to international sourcing, delays, or geopolitical issues.
Maintain accurate procurement records and shipping documentation (PI, Invoice, BL, COO, Packing List, etc.).
Utilize ERP systems and procurement software to track orders, deliveries, and inventory status.
Work closely with finance (for L/C, payments), warehouse, sales, and logistics departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
Provide regular reports on procurement savings, vendor performance, delivery lead times, and import-export activities.
JOB QUALIFICATION
Bachelor Degree from Industrial / Technical Engineering from reputable Univ.
At least 5 year experience in the same position
Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP)
Thorough knowledge of Stock Management
Strong organisation & Time Management
