Job summary

Michael Page is representing a growing mining company seeking a Procurement Manager/Lead to drive strategy, supplier performance, and cost-effective supply across Indonesia operations. The role covers end-to-end procurement for mining equipment, CAPEX, and services, with responsibility for governance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Strong procurement experience, ideally within mining, mining contractors, heavy equipment, energy, or other asset-intensive industries.
• Solid understanding of mining-related procurement categories, particularly heavy equipment, spare parts, MRO, CAPEX, operational materials, and contractors/services.
• Proven experience managing strategic sourcing, tenders, supplier negotiations, and commercial contracts.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering procurement efficiencies and cost optimisation.
• Strong vendor and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to work effectively across operational and corporate teams.
• Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate procurement data into actionable commercial decisions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with operational and business requirements.
• Manage end-to-end procurement activities covering mining equipment, heavy machinery, spare parts, consumables, CAPEX, contractors, and operational services.
• Lead strategic sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, and contract management.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate commercial terms to optimise cost, quality, delivery, payment terms, and overall total cost of ownership.
• Partner closely with Mining Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse, Logistics, and Project teams to ensure timely availability of critical goods and services.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively mitigate supply, delivery, quality, and commercial risks.
• Identify and execute cost-saving and procurement optimisation initiatives without compromising operational requirements.
• Manage procurement governance, documentation, approval processes, and compliance with internal policies and applicable requirements.
• Analyse procurement spend, supplier performance, market trends, and sourcing opportunities to support management decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes, systems, vendor management, and sourcing practices.
• Lead and develop the procurement team, creating a performance-driven and commercially focused procurement function.
