Procurement Lead
Mining Site (roster schedule)

Responsibilities
  1. Leads a team of procurement experts in various specialties assigned to ensure delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and services to meet project requirements within budget and on schedule.
  2. Liaises with the Project Manager and is the primary procurement interface between the Client, the project, and the supplier community.
  3. Reports to the Project Manager as a senior member of the project execution team. Works with engineering, planning, project controls, construction and quality management to ensure procurement is properly aligned with the expectations of the other groups in understanding and addressing the project requirements. Monitors and makes changes as work progresses.
  4. Manages the overall procurement activities in a project, including purchasing, expediting, supplier surveillance and inspection, traffic and logistics, warehousing, material coordination and control, contract formation and administration.
  5. Develops and implements the overall procurement procedures and plans, including close out activities of project procurement and hand over of deliverables to the client at the end of the project.
  6. Participates in the project risk assessment workshops and outlines the procurement related risks to the project. In collaboration with other project disciplines, prepares the project procurement plan to include appropriate mitigation for the risks. Amends and updates the project procurement plan as required in changing circumstances.
  7. Establishes and maintains close relations and communication with the Customer to ensure procurement is being executed as the contract requires and Customer expects, while protecting the Company's interests. Maintains and manages the procurement reporting to and from the Client.
  8. Counsels, assists and directs subordinate managers in accomplishing the project procurement objectives. Identifies, develops and implements training to enable staff to more efficiently and effectively perform assigned functions. Encourages and promotes innovation in obtaining procurement objectives.
  9. Establishes a field procurement capability to support construction management, if applicable.
  10. Ensures proper staffing, formal means of transferring work to site and oversight of field activities.
  11. Complies with Company procurement policies and procedures and acts within limits of delegated authority. Ensures that assigned team members follow policies and procedures, have proper levels of delegation and act strictly within them. Ensures compliance with Company's Code of Conduct.
  12. Oversees and coordinates the procurement and contractual aspects of delivering the project scope, with particular attention to the interface between the project, Contractors and Client Supply Chain Management.
  13. Coordinates and follows up on procurement diligently with regular meetings and other necessary means according to project standards.
Job Specific Knowledge:
  1. Proven experience in supervising and mentoring others in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with conflicting priorities and limited time available.
  2. Proficient in the use of computers and commonly used business software.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English is required.
  4. Proficiency in another language may be a significant advantage in certain location assignments.
Industry Specific Experience:
  1. Minimum of 10 years' experience in Procurement within the resources, construction and infrastructure sectors.
  2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Procurement Lead role.
  3. Experience in EPC type of projects is preferred.

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
