Job Responsibilities
The following are the primary duties for the piping engineer position:
- Study project and design basis, including basic design data, client specifications, standard drawings, existing drawings, and plot plans.
- Coordinate piping design and engineering efforts with other Lead Engineers and project disciplines.
- Prepare piping information lists, layout, and document lists following standard procedures.
- Check and review piping material specifications, vendor quotations, and vendor documents for compliance with standards, codes, and project requirements.
- Provide field engineering support during piping installation and testing at the construction site.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Piping Department Manager and Project Engineer.
- Support engineering activities during the construction phase.
- Create and manage engineering issue lists related to piping.
- Develop piping spool installation sequences and manage their priorities.
- Expedite piping and pipe support drawings for fabrication.
- Generate piping procedures, test packages, flange management documentation, and coordinate with clients for project piping issues.
- Liaise with other departments (QC, Engineering, Facility) to resolve piping issues.
- Assist Project Engineer in preparing Material Take Off (MTO) based on latest drawings.
- Review all IFC drawings received from clients and shop drawings before fabrication.
- Assist in preparing fabrication methods and sequences for piping and structural components.
- Support piping routing and fabrication drawing issuance.
- Assist in piping analysis or calculations for client non-conformance issues if required.
