Job summary

Pendidikan Amman Academy is seeking a part-time Shadow Teacher to support students in developing English language proficiency within classroom settings. The role focuses on language acquisition, vocabulary reinforcement, and facilitating student participation while gradually fostering independence.

Responsibilities include assisting with assignments, clarifying instructions, and collaborating with teachers to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Psychology, or a related field (preferred).
• Good spoken and written English.
• Experience working with children or students is preferred.
• Understanding of second-language acquisition is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, supportive, and culturally sensitive.

Responsibilities

• Attend classes with assigned student(s).
• Help students understand teacher instructions, learning objectives, and classroom expectations.
• Clarify vocabulary, concepts, and instructions using age-appropriate language.
• Provide brief explanations when students struggle to understand classroom lessons.
• Encourage students to actively participate in discussions and classroom activities.
• Assist students in developing everyday academic English.
• Reinforce key vocabulary introduced during lessons.
• Help students understand reading materials, worksheets, and assignments.
• Encourage students to communicate in English while providing appropriate support when needed.
• Gradually reduce language assistance as the student's proficiency improves.
• Support students in organizing their work and completing classroom assignments.
• Check that students understand homework and project requirements.
• Help students develop effective study habits and learning strategies.
• Provide additional practice when necessary, under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson objectives and student expectations.
• Communicate regularly with the Student Support Team regarding student progress.
• Attend meetings related to assigned students when requested.
• Share observations about learning progress and areas requiring additional support.
• Help new students adjust to the school environment and classroom routines.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviors.
• Promote respectful relationships with classmates and teachers.
• Support students emotionally during their transition into an English-speaking learning environment.
