Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Be physically fit, qualified to NACE Level 3 or FROSIO Level 3, with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar coating applicator setup and coating inspection. Previous managerial/coating engineer/supervisory experience is preferred. A diploma or engineering degree is an added advantage.
  2. Ensure and carry out all blasting and coating operations as per project requirements and approved procedures by collaborating with the QA/QC team.
  3. Maintain blasting and painting facilities as per project requirements and approved procedures. Responsible for getting the facility approved for international accreditation under various applicable painting contractor certification programs (such as SSPC QP1, etc.).
  4. Continually review operations, tools, and equipment suitability and sustainability to minimize transfer loss and application defects that can translate to cost savings.
  5. Generate blasting and painting plans together with required manpower resources for each project to minimize repair/contact/touch-up works and to ensure appropriate and timely application without exceeding maximum overcoating intervals.
  6. Review and generate:
    1. Blasting and painting procedures including specialized applications.
    2. Technical queries associated with coating.
    3. Responses or clarifications during the bidding stage associated with coating.
    4. Calculation of paint consumption/specific transfer loss formulae in conjunction with PMT.
    5. Responses for non-conformance related to coating.
  7. Maintain traceability and proper records:
    1. Supervisor, foremen, blasters, and painter’s certification, register, and competency matrix.
    2. Coating, thinner, and abrasive materials COA, ensuring SDS are readily available, including store First In/First Out system for materials and environmental data record of facility.
    3. Coating application equipment register including certification, maintenance record, and maintenance plan by working in conjunction with the facility department.
    4. Continuous training in-house records for blasters & painters.
    5. Lessons learned and JHA as required for each project.
  8. Responsible for handling audits related to coating by the client, addressing client comments, and closing suggestions for improvements, observations, and non-conformance from such audits.
  9. Generate training material and provide regular induction to blasters & painters for specific project requirements and improvement objectives.
  10. Perform Level 3 painting supervision during CPT, mixing, and coating application activities, including weekly walkabouts as required by client/project specifications.
  11. Support company HSE objectives and attend HSE-related activities as required, such as bi-weekly toolbox meetings.
