Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking an Ocean Freight Sales Assistant Manager based in Semarang (or Cibitung), Indonesia to drive new business and expand key accounts in Ocean Freight, focusing on Mandarin-speaking clients and China–Indonesia trade.

You will coordinate with local operations, regional teams, and international customers, manage tender processes, pricing simulations, and bespoke logistics solutions, ensuring high service quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, logistics or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in direct sales, BD, or account management within freight forwarding or ocean freight.
• Experience selling logistics solutions to B2B clients.
• Fluent or strong English; Mandarin preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new B2B ocean freight customers.
• Manage and grow Mandarin-speaking strategic accounts.
• Lead tender processes and pricing simulations.

Job Role

The Ocean Freight Sales Assistant Manager is responsible for driving business development and account expansion within the ocean freight business, especially for Mandarin-speaking clients and China–Indonesia trade activities. The role combines strategic hunting, commercial solution selling, tender management, pricing simulation, and customer relationship management to secure and grow B2B logistics business opportunities.

The position also acts as a key communication bridge between local operations, regional stakeholders, and international customers to ensure smooth coordination and high-quality logistics service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new B2B customers within the Ocean Freight and Logistics segment.


• Manage and grow relationships with Mandarin-speaking clients and strategic accounts.


• Conduct pricing simulations and manage tender processes.


• Develop tailored logistics and freight forwarding solutions based on customer requirements.


• Coordinate export/import shipping activities and documentation processes.


• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and trade requirements.


• Collaborate with internal operations and regional teams to ensure smooth execution.


• Support customer meetings, negotiations, and business presentations.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields.


• Minimum 3 years of experience in Direct Sales, Business Development, or Account Management within Freight Forwarding, 3PL, or Ocean Freight industries.


• Experience selling logistics and supply chain solutions under a B2B business model.


• Currently at Supervisor or Assistant Manager level.


• Strong understanding of Ocean Freight operations and China–Indonesia trade lanes.


• Experience managing tenders, pricing simulations, and commercial negotiations.


• Knowledge of export/import documentation and international shipping regulations.


• Professional fluency in English is required, while Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred.


• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.


• Proactive, target-oriented, and able to work independently.
