Mechanical Engineer (LNG) - Project Based

Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret mechanical package datasheets and specifications from engineering.
  2. Identify and prequalify potential vendors with support from Engineering and QA or follow Approved vendor list.
  3. Review and ensure vendor compliance with technical requirements and codes (ASME, API, etc.).
  4. Issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) and coordinate technical + commercial evaluations (TBE/CBE).
  5. Finalize and issue Purchase Orders (POs) based on approved TBE/CBE results.
  6. Incorporate necessary project-specific clauses (INCOTERMS, delivery schedules, inspection requirements).
  7. Negotiate terms including pricing, delivery, liquidated damages, and warranties.
  8. Act as point of contact for assigned mechanical package vendors.
  9. Monitor manufacturing schedules to ensure timely progress per milestones.
  10. Coordinate with Expeditors, QA/QC, and Logistics for inspections, FATs, packing, and shipment.
  11. Ensure timely submission of vendor documents (drawings, calculations, QAP, ITP, O&M manuals).
  12. Review vendor submittals in coordination with Engineering and QA/QC teams.
  13. Manage and track document revisions and approvals in document control system.
  14. Coordinate with QA/QC and third-party inspectors for inspection scheduling (e.g., witness points, hold points).
  15. Ensure compliance with ITP and relevant codes/standards during FATs.
  16. Manage punch list resolution before shipping.
  17. Support construction and commissioning by ensuring equipment is delivered with complete documentation.
  18. Resolve any vendor-related issues during installation/start-up.
  19. Ensure final vendor documentation is compiled for turnover (as-built, certifications, spares, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. 5–10 years of procurement engineering experience in oil & gas, LNG, or power projects.
  3. Strong background in mechanical equipment packages procurement in EPC context.
  4. Proven experience with LNG-specific packages is a strong asset (e.g., cryogenic pumps, BOG systems, loading arms).

Technical Skills:

  1. Knowledge of ASME, API, ISO, PED, and applicable LNG standards.
  2. Familiarity with P&IDs, datasheets, and equipment GA drawings.
  3. Understanding of procurement process lifecycle (RFQ to delivery).
  4. MS Office, Excel (tracking), and project procurement logs.
  5. Strong coordination and communication skills.
  6. Problem-solving and vendor negotiation ability.
  7. Able to manage multiple packages under time pressure.
  8. Team player, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  9. Hard worker and ready to work on extended hours – if required by the project schedule.

  1. Cryogenic LNG Pumps (submerged or external)
  2. Ambient Air Vaporizers (AAV)
  3. BOG Compressors
  4. BOG Heaters
  5. Marine Loading Arms and Cryogenic hoses
  6. Firewater Pumps
  7. Air compressor package
  8. Insitu built Storage Tank
