Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer/Snr Mechanical Design Engineer Entry level to Senior position with a strong background in valve design (all types) for downstream Oil & Gas applications. The ideal candidate will possess API6D knowledge, proficiency in relevant API design and testing standards, and a deep understanding of ASME, ASTM, BS, and EN standards. This role involves product drawing and technical documentation ownership, mechanical design & development of valve systems, close customer & sales liaison, and compliance with industry standards. Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS) is essential, alongside expertise in material science and valve sizing for various pressure ratings.

Key Responsibilities

Product Drawing & Technical Ownership

Oversee and maintain all product drawings, technical documentation, and design revisions.

Review, standardize, and optimize Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and clarity.

Develop and manage detailed technical documents for valve products and related components.

Mechanical Design & Development

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize valve and oil & gas-related product designs.

Apply mechanical engineering principles to enhance product performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Conduct detailed valve sizing and pressure-rating calculations to ensure product integrity and compliance

Utilize FEA tools (ANSYS) for stress and thermal analysis to ensure robust design integrity.

Advantage to know Ansys Fluent forcomputational fluid dynamics (CFD) software

Serve as the technical interface between sales and engineering, ensuring clear alignment on customer requirements and feasible design solutions.

Engage with global clients to understand their technical challenges and deliver tailored engineering solutions.

Present design proposals, technical information, and product improvements in a clear, customer-focused manner.

Material Specification & Application

Recommend appropriate materials and coatings (including corrosion-resistant options) for various oil & gas valve applications.

Ensure selected materials meet industry standards and performance criteria under different pressure and temperature conditions.

Recommend material treatments, coatings, and metallurgical specifications to ensure product durability and compliance.

Industry Standards & Compliance

Ensure all design activities comply with API 6D, ASME, ASTM, BS, and EN standards.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oil & gas downstream regulations safety standards, and quality guidelines to inform design and testing.

Assist in internal and external audits related to design standards and quality management.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

B.Tech / B.E in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Technical Proficiency:

CAD Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Experienced in stress and thermal simulations using ANSYS.

Material Science: Knowledge in corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and metallurgy.

Regulatory Standards: Working knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM, AISI, ISO design and testing standards.

Preferred Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of designing and testing various valve types (gate, globe, check, ball, and butterfly), with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.

Advanced capability in mechanical calculations and design optimization.

Demonstrated ability to handle full lifecycle design—conceptualization, prototyping, testing, and final production.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.

Ability to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams (Sales, R&D, QA/QC, Production) and external stakeholders
