Executive Recruitment Consultant - Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading pharmaceutical company that is preparing to expand its business into the African market. Our client is seeking a seasoned Advisor to support this initiative. This project-based role will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a focus on developing market entry strategies and building key partnerships across several African countries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research on the African pharmaceutical landscape, with a focus on generic medicines. Analyze market size, growth opportunities, pricing trends, competitive dynamics, and unmet medical needs in priority countries.
  • Regulatory Strategy Development: Advise on regulatory pathways for product registration and commercialization, especially in South Africa (SAHPRA), while also supporting navigation of regulatory frameworks in other key countries.
  • Market Entry Planning: Develop tailored go-to-market strategies, including prioritization of therapeutic areas, product selection, market access models (direct sales, distributors, partnerships, tenders), and country-specific expansion roadmaps.
  • Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement: Identify and connect with key stakeholders across the pharmaceutical ecosystem, including regulatory authorities, distributors, healthcare providers, retail pharmacy chains, and government procurement bodies.
  • Partnership & Alliance Development: Identify and assess potential local partners across target countries. Provide guidance on structuring strategic alliances and support partnership negotiations.
  • Pricing & Reimbursement Strategy: Design competitive pricing models that align with local reimbursement policies, tender requirements, and market conditions in priority markets.
  • Distribution & Logistics Advisory: Recommend effective, compliant distribution and supply chain strategies tailored to the infrastructure and regulatory environments in each country.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Highlight regulatory, commercial, operational, and political risks and propose robust mitigation strategies.
  • Reporting & Strategic Recommendations: Deliver regular insights and strategic updates to the leadership team, including actionable recommendations to inform decision-making and investment priorities.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical or consumer market expansion, especially in emerging markets.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, commercial, and distribution landscapes in Africa, with specific experience in South Africa and at least 3-5 of the following countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya,, Tanzania, Uganda, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, and or Egypt
  • Experience working with government health agencies, local distributors, and regulatory authorities across Africa.
  • Strong business acumen, negotiation skills, and cultural adaptability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Willingness to work in a project-based advisory capacity from Jakarta.
