Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Manufacturing Specialist - Manuf Eng Specialist in Batam, Indonesia. Lead welding engineering activities, improve manufacturing methods, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards for WCS projects.

You will drive continuous improvement, develop budgets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize welding processes, storage, and product milestones while promoting a strong EHS culture on site.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in welding/mechanical/metallurgical engineering with minimum 5 years' experience.
International Certified Welding Engineer / CSWIP Welding Engineer certification is preferred.
Basic project management knowledge.
Technical competencies in welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW).
Material knowledge: carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, CRA alloys.
Process knowledge: pre-heat, post-heat, PWHT.
Troubleshoot problems and perform failure analysis.
Experience implementing value stream mapping, cycle time, 5S and lean concepts.
Six Sigma belt is welcomed; QA certification is useful.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods/process routing and equipment layouts for welding process using drawings, materials and QC standards.
Drive continuous improvement via change management and best practices.
Develop operational budget and monitor expenses.
Collaborate with other functions to develop lean processes and welding innovations.
Ensure weld routing (standard/non-standard/rework) with clear work instructions.
Prepare and review WPS, PQR, materials and related docs, including new qualifications as needed.
Collaborate with Engineering/Bidding to provide plant capability and production hours.
Maintain welding consumables stock to keep production running smoothly.
Establish operating/communication mechanisms to deliver new product milestones.
Participate in EHS/HSE programs and promote EHS culture at Batam site.

The Welding Engineer is fully responsible to support production execution for WCS projects safely in accordance with HSE procedures and provide overall leadership for Welding Engineer team.

As a Manufacturing Specialist - Manuf Eng Specialist , y ou will be responsible for:

Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods/process routing and equipment layouts for welding process by utilizing knowledge of product drawings, materials, fabrication/assembly methods and quality control standards.
Drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices.
Develop operational budget and monitor expenses.
Collaborate with other functional teams to develop lean process and innovation in welding process.
Ensure all routing for weldng process (standard, non-standard and rework) are provided with clear Work Instrucion or appropriate procedure.
Prepare and review WPS, PQR, material and other related documents including running new qualification as required by projects.
Collaborate with Engineering team / bidding team to provide plant capability and production hours.
Maintain sufficient welding consumable stock to ensure production is running smoothly.
Establish the operating and communication mechanisms to implement new products milestone deliverable to ensure success of the program.
Participate in EHS/HSE program and proactively involve in improving EHS/HSE Culture in Batam Site.

To be successful in this role you will:

Bachelor Degree in Welding Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering with minimum 5 years strong experience
