Job description

This position is responsible for managing Japanese clients in Singapore and the Asia/Oceania region, taking full responsibility for all client matters, including claims.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review all renewal policies and recommend new cover (if any) and improve coverage if necessary.
  2. Review coverage and rates for unfavorable loss ratio clients, and take necessary measures together with Claim/Risk Engineering division timely when needed.
  3. Maintain and develop strong business relationships with existing and new clients.
  4. Expand the current pool of clients by building and maintaining strong relationships as well as coordinating various activities with these major clients.
  5. Provide guidance and technical assistance through direct involvement with the staff when they encounter difficulties and complex issues at work.
  6. Establish a comprehensive continuity and training plan to boost staff productivity, flexibility, skills, and knowledge enabling them to adapt to changing business and customer needs.
  7. Work on the World-Wide Program, offering professional advice and facilitating the World-Wide communication across Sompo Group.
  8. Build good business relationships for both new and existing networks.
  9. Understand the general insurance market of the world and knowledge about specific Marine insurance provided in Singapore and Japan to transfer and impart knowledge to the staff to enable them to forge new business partners.
  10. Communicate with Headquarters and handle Japanese clients in both Singapore and Japan, requiring Japanese language skills and proficiency.
  11. Understand and interact with Japanese corporate clients for a minimum of 5 years in marketing and/or business development for these businesses.
  12. Familiarity with World Wide Program and knowledge about General Insurance business, including reinsurance and business development in Marine insurance.
  13. Emphasize teamwork, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a willingness to learn and contribute, such as proactive initiative and continuous improvement in a business environment.
  14. Regional business travel may be required.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. At least 7 years of working experience in the general insurance industry.
  2. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in handling and focusing on serving Japanese corporate clients.
