Job summary

SME Careers is seeking a Malay Language Specialist to review AI-generated Malay content, create high-quality Malay references, and provide precise feedback. You will assess accuracy, fluency, grammar, tone, and cultural appropriateness, identifying errors and offering rewrites and model answers.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, native Malay proficiency, and strong English skills (C1).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Malay/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or related field.
• Native or near-native Malay proficiency (reading and writing required).
• Strong professional proficiency in English (minimum C1).
• 3+ years of experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, or related language work.
• Deep understanding of Malay grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
• Experience with AI data training/annotation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop prompts and gold-standard Malay answers across multiple domains.
• Evaluate and rank AI outputs to improve fluency, tone match, and cultural appropriateness.
• Detect unsafe or misleading content, factual hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language.
