About The Team
Legal is the foundation that lets Traveloka operate and grow across eleven Southeast Asian markets. You will work across commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, data privacy, consumer protection, and corporate governance — and no two jurisdictions read the same way, so you learn to navigate genuine legal complexity rather than copy templates.
Job Description
Job ID: MJ000387
We are a business partner that finds the path forward, not a compliance function that slows things down. As Traveloka pushes into new categories — financial services, insurance, AI — you sit close to the decisions that shape where the company goes next. If you want to do legal work that actually moves a fast-growing business in one of the world's most dynamic regions, you will thrive here.
About The Job
As a Legal Counsel, you are the deepest individual expert on a defined area of Traveloka's legal landscape, such as commercial contracting, compliance or data privacy. You work as an individual contributor with no direct reports, yet you develop and implement the operational plans and frameworks for your area in line with the domain's Must Win Battles, with direct impact on its overall results. You apply advanced expertise to genuinely complex problems — weighing operational, financial and human-capital impact — and you persuade leaders and counterparties to your position through depth rather than formal authority.
- Own the hardest, highest-stakes matters in your specialism end to end as the definitive internal authority
- Develop and implement the operational plans, playbooks and frameworks for your area in line with Legal's priorities, with direct impact on the domain's results and performance
- Work problems that are generally complex, considering their operational, financial and human-capital dimensions before you set a position
- Advise and persuade senior business leaders on high-stakes deals and initiatives, winning agreement to your recommendation even without decision authority over them
- Lead the legal workstream on cross-functional improvement projects, enhancing existing policies, processes and templates within the domain
- Own the regulatory posture for your area — anticipate change, interpret it, and design the operational response
- Set the standards and positions other counsel adopt, raising consistency across the domain without managing them; engage regulators and external counsel on specialist matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements, including partner, supplier, aggregator, distribution, and technology agreements, often under tight timelines
- Give practical legal advice on new business initiatives, product launches, and partnerships, balancing legal risk against commercial goals
- Manage multiple internal stakeholders at once, align conflicting priorities, and keep matters moving without losing quality
- Advise and persuade senior business leaders on high-stakes deals and initiatives, winning agreement to your recommendation even without decision authority over them
- Negotiate directly with counterparties and their counsel, and present clear recommendations to senior business leaders.
- Improve contract templates, playbooks, and review processes to make the team faster and more consistent
- Lead the legal workstream on cross-functional improvement projects, enhancing existing policies, processes and templates within the domain
- Own the regulatory posture for your area — anticipate change, interpret it, and design the operational response
- Spot legal and regulatory issues affecting the Travel Products business and work with relevant teams on the response
- Manage external counsel on specialist or cross-border matters when needed
- Set the standards and positions other counsel adopt, raising consistency across the domain without managing them; engage regulators and external counsel on specialist matters

- You understand the regulatory environment for a digital travel, lifestyle, Customer protection, and financial-services business across multiple markets
