Lead Pastor

ICB is looking for a new Lead Pastor as our current Shepherd looks to retire in 2026. The main emphasis of this position is the glorification of God in Batam and in the lives of its international community. The Pastor of ICB will be primarily responsible for shepherding with three main areas of influence: leading, developing, and caring. The Elders are seeking a man that has spiritual gifts that fit in accordance with these responsibilities, is elder qualified (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9) and can work in the following areas:

1. Be a part of the eldership team, serving the team by helping us stay focused to our Scriptural mandates, keeping us and the fellowship moving forward in obedience, and looking for ways to build up the body.
2. Provide pastoral care for the ICB, which includes but is not limited to biblical counseling, pre-marital/marital counseling, visiting the sick or injured, being available in times of crisis.
3. Preach on average 2-3 Sundays per month, with occasional times of more frequent preaching, i.e. during the summer. Other Sundays to be filled by elders and other members. For those Sundays where he does not preach, he will help in other ways.
4. Directly and indirectly disciple and enable discipleship among the members of ICB, both international and national.
5. Provide administrative oversight for selected other ministries in the fellowship based needs.
6. Manage any part-time or full-time staff employed by the fellowship as well as ministry volunteers.
7. Help foster the advancement of the ICB Vision Framework.
8. Be involved in reaching out to and evangelizing the international community on Batam, meeting expats where they are!

It is expected that the Lead Pastor of ICB embody the following traits and characteristics:

1. Be Christ centered and Christ-treasuring and be passionate about glorifying God.
2. Be biblically saturated and doctrinally grounded.
3. Be culturally informed, thoughtfully and effectively engaging culture for the sake of the Gospel.
4. Be mission minded, devoted to seeing all peoples come into a glorifying relationship of God through Jesus Christ.
5. Be relational, willing to meet new people and reach out and minister to a multinational group of people in a cross-cultural context.

Who We are Looking For
As we look to fill this role, we can see one of several possible options. We are open to someone younger to middle aged looking to grow into a lead pastor role. We are also open to an older, more mature person, with 5-10 more years of service to give a local fellowship. Another possibility would be a spiritually mature cross-cultural worker that has years of experience in Southeast Asia and is looking to make a shift in his work. A foreign educated Indonesian could also be a great fit for this role. Whoever applies needs to understand that we are looking for someone who can raise a substantial portion of their funding, with ICB providing a small portion of their financial needs.

Other Qualifications:

1. Experience preaching
2. Experience leading others
3. Theological or biblical education preferred
4. International Experience a must, S.E. Asia experience a plus
5. Willingness to largely self-fund living costs
6. Willing to learn the Indonesian language
