Job description

We are looking for our first Lead Data Engineer in Jakarta who will create an amazing experience for our customers as they build and maintain solutions in the Google Cloud.

The purpose of this role is to serve as a trusted consultant and expert for our clients as they develop and manage solutions within the Google Cloud environment. As our first-ever lead data engineer in Jakarta, you will collaborate closely with our team of data engineers, cloud engineers, and project managers on dynamic projects. Your role will involve designing complex solutions and implementing your plans to meet our clients' needs effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for the end-to-end development lifecycle.
• Estimating and identifying risks in tasks, along with developing mitigation plans.
• Decomposing tasks and assigning them to engineers at the expected level.
• Conducting requirement analysis and designing the implementation, including technology selection.
• Delivering fully functional solutions meeting the 'definition of done' criteria for the project, while setting best practices within the company.
• Crafting highly efficient and well-written code, while also enhancing existing codebase.
• Conducting testing and selecting optimal strategies, ensuring seamless integration of all tests.
• Reviewing output, solutions, design patterns, and reusability, while also producing documentation.
• Engaging in presales activities and delivering proof-of-concept solutions.
• Architecting and developing data pipelines, data platforms, and data warehouses on the Google Cloud Platform.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship.
• Serving as a trusted technical consultant and trainer for our clients' tech teams.

About you

• you are a software or data architect with hands-on coding experience (preferably in Java/Python and SQL), expecting continued coding involvement, with at least 7 years of expertise.
• finding the right tools for each problem is more important to you than becoming an expert in one specific tool.
• talking directly to clients to understand their business needs is not outside your comfort zone.
• you want to use your technical leadership skills to guide both our engineers and our clients’ engineers on their cloud journey.
• you have excellent communication skills in English.
