Job description

Tanoto Foundation is seeking a candidate for Lead Basic Education Specialist who is experienced in building credibility from:

  • track record of impact and deep understanding of local context to scale effective solutions in partnership with other actors in education
  • understanding of the overall national and global development context and gap in education sector, particularly in improving children’s foundational literacy and numeracy proficiency
  • ability to support policy dialogue by translating the programmatic impact and evidence to program development and policy discussion

She or he will lead a group of national and subnational team and contribute to the leadership of Tanoto Foundation in exercising the basic education program aimed to improve children’s proficiency in literacy and numeracy in Indonesia. Her or his role will involve a series of functions, ranging from strategizing and implementing research-based basic education development program to communicating the findings to catalyze education quality improvement at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Basic Education Program Strategy & Implementation
  • Design and manage research-based basic education program focusing to improve foundational literacy and numeracy (e.g. goals, strategy, measurement and implementation plan) by using the information from, among others, internal learnings, situational analysis, systematic review, benchmarking and innovation studies
  • Provide technical guide and management support on the implementation of all basic education programs to ensure the achievement of target. It includes development of measurement framework for program implementation guide and progress tracking
  • Develop report and proposal related to the program implementation. It includes identifying and managing third party that are required to succeed the program implementation
  • Contribute in strategic discussion to improve the organization’s support to the sector development and sharpen the policy dialogue. It includes a use of monitoring and evaluation data to inform strategy refinement and decision making
  • Organizational Building
  • Provide technical and operational support to national and subnational team to ensure integration, coherence and harmonization of program implementation and people development
  • Ensure the legal dan operational compliance against the company policy and standard for accountability and credibility
  • Support the execution of communication strategy by serving as resource for program learnings, impact consolidation and policy message development.
  • Networking and Partnership Building
  • Provide technical support to relevant national and subnational government for education program and policy development
  • Represent the organization in bilateral and/or multilateral stakeholders’ engagement for thought leadership in basic education development
  • Build and sustain partnership with local and global stakeholders for scaling up the impact and outreach
  • Qualifications:Master’s Degree in education study and other related technical fields.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in managing education program with a deep understanding of the education system in Indonesia
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale programs and manage networks across provinces
  • Experienced in collaborating with research institutions and evaluation partners to design research-based programs.
  • Skilled in working with government agencies and multi stakeholders
  • Excellent English, both spoken and in writing.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
