Job description

1. Team Leadership
- Supervise and lead a team of landscapers and grounds maintenance workers.
- Assign tasks and provide guidance and support to team members.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Conduct training for staff on landscaping techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.

2. Project Coordination
- Plan and manage landscaping projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Oversee the installation of plants, trees, grass, and hardscaping features like pathways and patios.

3. Quality Control
- Ensure that all landscaping work meets the company’s quality standards.
- Perform regular inspections of sites to check for plant health, cleanliness, and general maintenance.
- Address any issues or concerns regarding landscape aesthetics, design, or maintenance needs.

4. Maintenance and Care
- Oversee routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, and fertilization.
- Maintain and ensure proper care of plants, trees, shrubs, and grass.
- Supervise seasonal tasks like leaf removal, snow clearing, and garden preparation for different climates.
- Monitor the health of the landscape and take appropriate action to address pest control or disease issues.

5. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure that all landscaping activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all team members, including the proper use of tools and machinery.
- Keep an inventory of safety equipment and ensure it is in good condition.

6. Equipment & Materials Management
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of landscaping tools and machinery.
- Ensure that all materials, such as soil, mulch, fertilizers, and plants, are ordered, stored, and used efficiently.
- Maintain equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are well-serviced and safe to operate.

7. Customer Relations (if applicable)
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
- Address any client concerns or complaints regarding landscaping services.
- Provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades to landscaping features.

Qualifications:

1. Education
High school diploma or equivalent (Some employers may prefer an associate degree in horticulture, landscape management, or related field).

2. Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in landscape maintenance or a related field.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

3. Skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of landscaping techniques, tools, and materials.
- Good understanding of horticulture and environmental sustainability.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape design plans and blueprints.
- Proficient in the use of landscaping tools and machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
