Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking a QA Manager to define and drive our quality assurance strategy across our full product range — from sophisticated AI/ML models to user-friendly web applications — ensuring everything we ship meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.

This is a leadership role, not a hands‑on testing role. You will spend the majority of your time on strategy, team development, quality gates, and stakeholder communication — not executing tests yourself. We need someone who can raise the entire team's bar, not be the team's best tester. You will lead and grow a team of QA engineers, partner closely with product, development, and project teams, and serve as a key quality partner to our Japanese clients.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies, policies, and procedures for our web applications and AI/ML projects.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Act as a genuine quality gate — reviewing your team's test plans and cases to catch gaps and raise standards, not to approve them as a formality.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all QA matters, communicating test status, risks, and quality reports to stakeholders, including clients and senior management.
• Collaborate closely with development, product, and project management teams to embed QA best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Oversee the creation and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts for both manual and automated testing.
• Communicate directly with our Japanese clients to understand their quality requirements and feedback, ensuring all deliverables align with their standards and expectations.
• Drive the adoption of new testing technologies and methodologies, particularly in AI and web application performance.
• Define, monitor, and report on key QA metrics, using data to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software quality assurance, including proven experience as a QA Manager, QA Lead, or in a similar quality leadership role.
• A leader who operates at strategic altitude and resists the pull to solve problems by doing the individual‑contributor work themselves.
• You make decisions. When your team brings you a problem, they leave with direction — not just discussion.
• You review test plans and cases as a real quality gate: catching gaps, raising standards, and pushing back where needed.
• You are self‑correcting and reliable — peers and leadership can trust your work without having to check it.
• Demonstrated experience testing web applications, with a solid understanding of modern web technologies.
• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes across the full testing lifecycle.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and managing a team of QA professionals.
• Experience defining and driving QA strategy and process improvement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to articulate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Fluent in English at a professional/business level, able to communicate confidently with international clients and stakeholders — verbally and in writing.

Advantageous If

• You have experience working with Japanese clients, or a strong understanding of Japanese business culture and communication styles.
• You have N3 or higher Japanese language proficiency.
• You have experience testing AI/ML models and pipelines.
• You are familiar with test automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
• You have experience in IT project management.
• You hold relevant professional certifications (e.g., ISTQB).
