The Role
Intrepid is currently looking for a BI Business Analyst to be based in Indonesia or in Malaysia. As a BI Business Analyst, you are joining a team of strong and international Business Intelligence and data enthusiasts with a multi-country scope in a fast growing company in an exciting industry. You will be responsible for creating business impact through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, process improvements, project management and through strong collaboration with our business and tech team. In this pivotal role you work closely with colleagues from multiple departments across all functional levels and you have exposure to both local as well as regional management teams. Furthermore, you support in continuously improving our BI & data structure which powers our core dashboards, reporting, decision-making and tools. Another key component to this role is working closely with business users to translate business needs into analytics and / or reporting requirements and providing decision makers with actionable business intelligence backed by data. You would be knowledgeable about the ecommerce metrics and analytics required to support functional areas of the business. Scoping out projects through strong project management, business process mapping, process improvement, reporting & analytics, communication, organization and time management is critical for this role to positively impact the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Be the go to person for business analytics for our key stakeholders and bring our brand partners’ performance to the next level with your insights and impactful dashboards.
- Collaborate with business users to define & develop analytics, reporting and automation solutions that meet business needs.
- Determine opportunities for process improvement using different technologies and spearhead implementation of projects deemed necessary to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Partner with various business units as a discussion partner to plan, strategize, and grow the business by enabling data-driven decision-making
- Serve as a data & insights consultant who simplifies complex terminologies into more understandable visualization/insight to our internal clients.
- Support existing dashboards, reportings & automations whenever there are issues arise & reported by stakeholders.
- Help drive data accuracy and consistency in data and reporting.
- Drive the standardization of data metrics and KPIs leveraging business process and data knowledge.
- Coach users on best-practice uses of data and analytics and assist users in finding the right information.
- Train and provide support to users of BI reporting infrastructure.
Who We Look For – The Ideal Profile:
We’re seeking a results-driven individual with a strong foundation in Business Intelligence and a proven track record in stakeholder management, project execution, and data quality assurance at scale. The ideal candidate will bring:
- 3–5 years of experience in a role encompassing multiple BI facets, with strong emphasis on business stakeholder engagement, project management, and data governance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize cross-functional BI projects, with clear communication and alignment across business teams, technical teams, and leadership stakeholders.
- Strong experience in data quality management and data governance frameworks, with a track record of maintaining and improving data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Comfortable working with and organizing large-scale datasets, ensuring data integrity while extracting meaningful business insights.
- Strong skills in data visualization using tools like Looker, PowerBI, Superset, or similar platforms, with an ability to convey insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in SQL, Python, and experience in building BI models and conducting deep data analysis; familiarity with data scraping tools is a plus.
- Solid grasp of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline management.
- Hands-on experience with eCommerce, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, strong numerical sense, and analytical thinking.
- Creative, resourceful, and solution-oriented mindset, especially when facing ambiguous problems.
- A self-starter attitude, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into actionable business decisions.
- Passion for continuous learning, with the confidence to challenge norms and push for better practices.
- Strong communication skills in English, with an additional local language preferred.
Technical BI Skills Required:
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in:
- MS Excel
- SQL
- Google Data Studio, BigQuery
- Python (additional languages a plus)
- Understanding of Netsuite or ERP systems is a plus
- Familiarity with analytical and statistical techniques to support data-driven decisions
