Job Description
- Clean all public guest areas, back of house (BOH), and crew areas including crew restrooms, staircases, landings, and launderette; regularly vacuum, dust, polish, and sanitize assigned areas.
- Oversee general floor care duties including shampooing, stripping, waxing, etc.
- Work with and use various chemical cleaning products and floorcare equipment.
- Remove dirty dishes and/or glassware from public areas.
- Ensure that cleaning equipment is kept in good working order, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the Assistant Chief Housekeeper; use the ship’s reporting system to report maintenance issues.
- Assist guests with directions and general information in guest areas, according to Viking’s STAR Service Standard.
- Handle cleaning products, materials, and housekeeping equipment properly, separate and remove garbage, and place it in designated containers; clean garbage areas as needed, maintaining separation procedures and all Public Health Standards.
- Assist with special deliveries to guests on embarkation days, when necessary.
- Participate in luggage duty on embarkation and disembarkation days.
- Participate in “The Daily Reunion” every day to understand your team’s operational needs and ensure adherence to Viking’s STAR Service Standards.
- Provide the highest level of comfort and service to guests, maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene in assigned areas, in line with Viking’s STAR Service Standards and Public Health Policies; prepare services proactively according to guest flow, embarkation/disembarkation, sea day activities, and other events.
- Always wear appropriate and task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required; use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
- Uphold grooming standards at all times by complying with Viking’s Image and Uniform Standards.
- Secure and protect company property, especially during rough weather, to prevent loss or damage.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working at different times, under pressure, with a positive attitude, and representing Viking professionally.
- Gain knowledge about itinerary ports of call, shore excursions, and shipboard activities such as events, entertainment, and programs.
- Motivated to achieve departmental goals related to quality and financial performance.
- Understand safety and security procedures, participate in onboard training, safety drills, fire prevention, and evacuation exercises as required.
- Work across all Housekeeping and Custodial areas based on operational needs.
