Job Summary:
The Head of the Reprocessing Unit for Medical Devices (RUMED) is responsible for overseeing the sterilization, decontamination, and reprocessing of medical instruments and equipment used throughout the 100-bed hospital and three Operating Theatres. Given the hospital's specialization in infectious diseases, the role requires stringent infection prevention measures, biosafety compliance, and advanced sterilization techniques. This position ensures strict adherence to national and international infection control standards, manages a team of sterile processing staff, and implements high-quality safety protocols to prevent the spread of infectious agents. We are looking for a motivated Head of the Reprocessing Unit for Medical Devices (RUMED) who is assisting, guiding, and supervising the resident Head of the RUMED in this position to develop the required skills for this role

Key Responsibilities:
Department Leadership & Management:
- Oversee all activities related to the cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of medical devices and surgical instruments.
- Develop and implement protocols to prevent cross-contamination and to ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Lead, train, and manage RUMED staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to best practices.
- Monitor department workflow to optimize efficiency and turnaround times for reprocessed instruments.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other medical professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments while maintaining strict containment measures.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to national and international sterilization and decontamination protocols (e.g., WHO, CDC, ISO, and Ministry of Health regulations for infectious disease hospitals).
- Conduct regular quality control checks and audits on sterilization processes, ensuring compliance with infectious disease handling standards.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, biosafety incidents, and corrective actions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance infection prevention, patient safety, and staff protection.
Equipment & Inventory Management:
- Oversee procurement, maintenance, and servicing of sterilization equipment and tools.
- Ensure adequate inventory of sterilization materials, chemicals, PPE, and biohazard containment supplies.
- Monitor proper storage and handling of reprocessed medical devices to prevent contamination and exposure risks.
- Work within budget constraints while ensuring the availability of high-quality reprocessing resources tailored for infectious disease management.
Training & Development:
- Develop and implement specialized training programs for RUMED staff on biosafety, handling of high-risk infectious materials, and emergency sterilization procedures.
- Stay updated with advancements in medical device reprocessing and integrate relevant best practices into hospital protocols.
- Ensure that all personnel adhere to workplace safety regulations and use protective equipment appropriately, minimizing the risk of exposure to infectious agents.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Microbiology, Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Sterile Processing, Infection Control, or Healthcare Quality Management is a plus.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in medical device reprocessing, sterilization, or related fields, preferably in an infectious disease hospital or high-risk environment.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention, sterilization techniques, and regulatory compliance for infectious disease settings
- Experience in managing a team in a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Reference letters from previous jobs are required.
- Candidates must be proficient in Bahasa Indonesia. English proficiency is considered an advantage.
