About Edufarmers International Foundation

The Edufarmers International Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the four pillars of food security: availability, desirability, access, and utilization of food. Through our innovative programs, we empower local communities and improve food security by addressing critical issues in agriculture and public health. Edufarmers focuses on two main areas:

  1. Agriculture Services and Development: We are currently building our capabilities to do agronomy research to achieve optimal yield, to work with farmers and influencing their behavior to adopt certain agri-inputs, practices, and technologies, and to create agriculture content and material to disseminate them to wider audiences. We have the ambition to develop an Indonesian agriculture production center of excellence with research and training center operations all around Indonesia to create impact and change the landscape of the Indonesian upstream agriculture industry.
  2. Stunting Prevention and Nutrition AI Program: We aim to reduce Indonesia's high stunting rates through a combination of direct intervention and AI-powered education and communication for behavior change. Our ZeroStunting program provides daily nutrition for stunted children, increasing parent's awareness on parenting & child nutrition, empowering and train Posyandu cadres, and other relevant initiatives proven to reduce stunting. We also develop technology platforms for beneficiaries and program operators to make program operations more effective and efficient and for wider audiens that enable them to increase their awareness & knowledge as well as to make direct contributions such as giving donations and become a volunteer.

Join us in our mission to make an impact in strengthening food security in Indonesia and Souutheast Asia. We are currently looking for a Head of Finance and Accounting to lead the finance and accounting division in Edufarmers.

Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership & Planning
  • Serve as a key member of the leadership and strategy team, translating the organization's mission into a sustainable financial strategy and long-range financial plan.
  • Develop and present clear financial narratives, analyses, and forecasts to the C-level and Board, providing the insights needed for critical decision-making on program scaling, investment, and resource allocation.
  • Create robust financial models to assess the viability and impact of new initiatives, such as establishing new agricultural research centers, Plaza Bertani centers, or expanding the ZeroStunting program into new regions.
  • Establish and monitor key financial metrics and unit economics (e.g., cost per farmer trained, cost per child's nutritional outcome) to drive efficiency and maximize the social return on investment.
Advanced Grant & Donor Financial Management
  • Partner with program and fundraising teams to oversee grant lifecycle budgeting such as develop compelling, accurate, and compliant budgets for complex grant proposals from institutional, corporate, and private donors.
  • Design and manage a sophisticated financial reporting system for donors that clearly demonstrates stewardship, efficiency, and impact, fostering trust and encouraging long-term funding relationships.
  • Master and ensure adherence to the diverse financial regulations and reporting requirements of various international and domestic funding sources.
Financial Operations & Systems Integration
  • Own end-to-end process to design, implement, and manage a seamless financial workflow across the organization, from initial program budgeting and grant application to expense processing, monitoring, and final acquittal reporting.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of financial systems and tech stack (ERP, accounting software) that integrate with program management tools to create a single source of truth and automate key processes.
  • Oversee all core accounting functions, including financial closing, audits, tax compliance, and treasury management, ensuring impeccable accuracy and adherence to non-profit accounting standards.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to be a high-performing team, fostering a culture of strategic partnership, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Develop and deliver training for non-finance staff (e.g., Program Managers) on budget management, financial procedures, and grant compliance, empowering them to take ownership of their program finances.
Requirement and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA or a relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, CMA) is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of Finance, Controller, or FP&A).
  • Proven experience within a non-profit, foundation, or international development organization is essential. Must have a deep understanding of grant accounting, fund management, donor reporting, and non-profit compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and leading a strategic financial planning & analysis (FP&A) function. Must be adept at financial modeling, long-range forecasting, and unit economics analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with modern accounting/ERP systems. Proven ability to lead the selection and implementation of financial technology to improve efficiency and integration.
  • Experience reporting to a Board of Directors and managing relationships with the Finance/Audit committee. Deep knowledge of Indonesian accounting standards (PSAK), tax regulations, and international financial reporting standards relevant to non-profits.
Expected Professional Competencies
  • Strategic Mindset: see beyond the numbers to the underlying story and connect financial data to the organization's mission, a forward-thinker who anticipates future trends and develops plans to address them.
  • Financial Storytelling: possess the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, compelling narratives that empower non-finance leaders (from program heads to the Board) to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Collaborative Business Partner: operate not as a gatekeeper, but as a proactive partner and enabler to other departments. Skilled at building relationships and working across functions to achieve shared goals.
  • Inspirational Leadership: a proven leader who can mentor, develop, and build a high-performing finance team, foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Unquestionable Integrity: have a strong ethical compass and are committed to the highest standards of transparency, governance, and stewardship in managing the foundation's resources.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: comfortable with ambiguity and can thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven environment, and a creative and resilient problem-solver who can navigate complex challenges with a calm and structured approach.
Expected Cultural Competencies
  • Mission and Impact-Driven: view every financial decision through the lens of our mission. Our primary motivation is to maximize the social return on every dollar entrusted to us, ensuring our resources are directed towards creating the greatest possible impact for our beneficiaries and building trust with our donors and partners.
  • Partnership & Enablement: believe finance is a service function that empowers the mission, not a gatekeeper that restricts it. We build bridges across the organization, acting as a trusted advisor and proactive partner to program leaders, helping them achieve their goals through sound financial planning and support.
  • Builder's Mindset & Pragmatism: thrive in a dynamic environment where systems are still being built and refined. We are not just a manager but a builder, with a pragmatic approach to creating robust, scalable financial processes. The candidate must be comfortable with iteration and have a bias for action, finding practical solutions to complex challenges.
Why Join Us

This is more than a finance role, it's an opportunity to architect the financial backbone of an organization poised for transformative national impact. As our Head of Finance and Accounting, you will be the strategic partner to our leadership, building the systems, strategies, and financial resilience required to scale our innovative agriculture and public health programs across Indonesia.
