Job description

The Head of Credit Risk will lead the Credit Risk team and is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to manage credit risk, optimize portfolio performance, and support business growth. This role requires close collaboration with the Business and Data Science and Data Analyst teams to develop and execute risk underwriting strategies for user acquisition and limit management strategies for user retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of credit risk analysts and portfolio analysts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure the team is aligned with the company’s risk management goals and objectives.
  • Design and implement risk underwriting strategies to support the acquisition of new users.
  • Develop credit policies and procedures that balance risk management with business growth.
  • Monitor and refine underwriting strategies based on market trends and performance data.

Portfolio Monitoring and Analytics:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of portfolio monitoring tools and reports.
  • Analyze portfolio performance and recommend actions to optimize credit risk exposure.
  • Ensure that portfolio risk metrics are regularly reviewed and adjusted as necessary.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with Business, Data Science and Data Analytics, and other relevant teams to align credit risk strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for credit risk-related matters across the organization.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to support business growth.

Credit Risk Management for Financial Services:

  • Understand and follow compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements related to credit risk management.
  • Establish and maintain robust risk governance frameworks to ensure effective risk management practices.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in credit risk management, with a strong background in risk, analytics, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Experience in the Fintech or Financial Services industry is required.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing risk underwriting and limit management strategies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as SQL, Python, or similar.
