The Head of Bancassurance Strategy role offers an exciting opportunity to leading/facilitating the strategic planning process for corporate. The incumbent will work closely with the leadership team to prioritize
Position Responsibilities:
• Lead ongoing research efforts in support of senior Leadership, assigned projects and product development efforts with the objective of making customer focused, fact based business decisions. Recommend solutions based on research and analysis completed.
• Business lead for assigned strategic initiatives and projects. Role will be responsible for creating business case and gaining commitment from leadership to proposed strategy and implementation plan. When in execution mode, also responsible for providing business input and tracking the project to ensure it meets business objective
• Effectively communicate with department leaders, project sponsor, senior Leadership and colleagues to create consensus on key objectives and strategies for assigned projects. Lead working groups or represent Marketing & Product Development in other working groups within Manulife or other Business Units. Represent Manulife for cross business unit projects and committees
• Lead effective non-financial business planning, strategy and market research discussions with senior staff.
• Provide leadership within a culturally diverse cross-functional team with an attitude of customer first
• To ensure that high quality staff with a higher caliber of critical skills are hired within the organization; to evaluate, coach and motivate staff so that they can achieve their objectives
• Appropriate use of Human Resource tools, practices and resources to assist in staff management
• Coach and assist direct reports and peers
Required Qualifications:
• 8+ years progressive business experience including the successful execution of complex projects
• Excellent understanding of financial services industry
• Very strong financial acumen and ability to build detailed business cases
• Excellent communicating, influencing and conflict management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and exercise judgment in a changing environment
• Ability to work and influence cross functional teams
• Effective conceptual, diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Well-developed presentation skills
• Strategic thinker
• Results oriented
• Ability to work in a non-structured environment
• Well-developed planning and project management skills
• Process and change management abilities
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer industry related education
• University degree
• Post-university degree or professional designation preferred Decision Authorities:
• Owns recommendation to senior management on actions to take pertaining to business development
• Owns implementation decisions relating to business development initiatives, with responsibility to report up to management and to other stakeholders as needed.
• Full resource management responsibility
• Decision making for hiring, terminating, training/developing and compensation changes for the team
