Job description

PT Masmindo Dwi Area | Awak Mas Gold Project, South Sulawesi

PT Masmindo Dwi Area is building the Awak Mas Gold Project, an open-pit gold mine moving through construction toward first gold. We are looking for a GM Environmental to lead the site's entire environmental function — building it up through construction and into full operation, and making environmental performance a foundation of how the mine runs.

You will lead a multi-layer environmental organization covering compliance, environmental management systems, monitoring, reclamation, and environmental projects — and represent the company on environmental matters to regulators, lenders, and executive management.

What you will do

• Lead the site environmental function end to end, managing environmental managers and their teams across operations, systems, compliance, monitoring, reclamation, and special projects.
• Own environmental compliance with Indonesian regulations and permit conditions — AMDAL/RKL-RPL, technical approvals (Pertek), and all environmental obligations across the project.
• Drive PROPER performance and lead the environmental management system (ISO 1401) implementation and certification readiness.
• Oversee environmental monitoring, reporting, and the integrity of environmental data across air, water, waste, and land.
• Lead reclamation, revegetation, nursery, and mine-closure planning in line with regulatory and reclamation-guarantee requirements.
• Provide environmental governance over tailings, water management, and waste — working closely with engineering and operations.
• Manage engagement with KLH, ESDM, provincial authorities, and other regulators; support lender and due-diligence requirements.
• Build a capable national environmental team, and set standards, budgets, and KPIs for the function.

What you will bring

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years in environmental management within mining or heavy industry, including senior leadership of an environmental function.
• Deep command of Indonesian environmental regulation — AMDAL, RKL-RPL, Pertek, PROPER, and mine-closure/reclamation frameworks.
• Proven track record leading compliance, environmental management systems (ISO 14001), monitoring, and reclamation program.
• Strong experience engaging regulators (KLH/KLHK, ESDM) and, ideally, lenders on environmental requirements.
• POM certification and a strong understanding of good mining practice.
• Demonstrated leadership of large, multi-discipline environmental teams.
• Willing to be site based on a roster arrangement.
• A strong advantage: experience taking an environmental function through construction into operational start-up at a gold or hard rock mine, and exposure to tailings and water-management environmental governance.
