Job summary

GKP Solutions, Inc. seeks an experienced Database Engineer to lead migration and modernization of GIS databases to Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL. You will migrate from Oracle/SQL Server, configure PostGIS, and design HA/DR for large-scale deployments.

You will collaborate with cloud, application, and GIS teams to deliver a robust, scalable platform with zero-downtime migration strategies.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
Proven track record migrating Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
Experience configuring and supporting PostGIS environments.
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning and optimization.
Experience with replication, failover, backup and recovery strategies.
Strong understanding of change management and release processes.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement database solutions using RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL.
Lead schema and data migrations from legacy databases to PostgreSQL.
Configure and optimize PostGIS for GIS workloads.
Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Architect HA/DR solutions and automated failover strategies.
Develop and execute change management for production deployments.
Plan blue/green deployments, logical replication, and near-zero downtime migrations.
Collaborate with cloud, application, and GIS teams to modernize the platform.
